Planning trips in May 2023? Please be aware that our last day of school is May 23 and final exams are May 17-23. Per state law, we are not allowed to administer exams earlier than that window (exams must be administered during the last five days of school and are administered according to a schedule established by the school). Please keep these dates in mind if you are planning trips in May to ensure students do not miss exams.

Career Forum Event Follow Up: On Thursday, February 2, we hosted 11 professionals from local companies to share their experience and expertise with our students in our first annual Career Forum event. 

We wanted to share the questions that our moderators used and encourage you to share your own answers and experiences with your students at home. Students often know where their parents work, but seem to know less about what their day-to-day professional experience is like. 

Q&A Questions List: 

• Please share your career journey to your current role, including your education, certifications & experience.

• What does a typical day look like for you in your current role?

• Tell us about a work project that was especially enjoyable to work on. 

• What skill sets or industry certifications would you recommend for someone interested in your field?

• How do you see the computer science (or biotech) industry impact seemingly unrelated industries?

• What is the most challenging part of your work?

• How often are you working on collaborative projects? What does that look like in your organization?

• What general career advice would you share with your high school self, if you could?

Buy Your Yearbook: Yearbooks are now on sale! Use this link to purchase our inaugural edition of the WECIB yearbook! Personalization is not available this year. Our apologies for the confusion on that issue. 

Toiletries Drive: The Chick Fil A Leader Academy group will be hosting a toiletries drive in February. We will be partnering with the No Women No Girl Non Profit organization to collect needed items to assist families who are homeless or in transition. The organization's mission is that No woman and no girl will go without access to everyday essentials to survive crisis or transition. Their vision is to provide hope, education and essentials to women and girls, regardless of the circumstances of life. During the month of February we will be collecting the following items: Shampoo, Conditioner, Body wash, Soap, Hand lotion, Hand sanitizer, Washcloths, Pads, Tampons, Feminine Hygiene Wipes, Floss, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes. In March we will have our second community service opportunity on a Saturday in March (date TBA) as we donate the items to No Woman No Girl in recognition of Women’s Month. 

Counselor Connect Dates and Topics: All students are invited to come join Ms. Moore in the Counselor Connect monthly sessions. We will be guest speaking coming to discuss the following topics each month and students will engage in hands-on activities during the sessions. Students will meet in room 207 for each session.
