  • Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a nice spring break with your child(ren). I know how fast the end of year will come as it always does. We have many fun events scheduled like field trips, pep rally, field day etc. It is critical that we have students coming to school EVERY DAY so that they can continue to engage in learning as the teachers have still many standards to teach across the curriculum. If students are not at school, they cannot receive the “good stuff” happening in the classrooms each day.

Please find ways to send appreciation to JeLynn Crane this week as we recognize National Assistant Principal Appreciation Week. She works so hard to ensure students feel safe and connected at Lacy!

In preparation for the Solar Eclipse on Monday, we have purchased approved eclipse glasses for students to wear if their classroom is going outside between 2-2:55 p.m. There will be a form that your child’s teacher will send this week for you to opt out if you do not want your child to participate. We will move recess around so that no child is outside during this time without glasses. We are working on ensuring a safe exit for students riding the bus and going home via carpool. If your child is a walker, please discuss with them the need for them to NOT look at the sun during their travel home. If they do, there will be serious harm to their eyes according to everything I have read. You may want to consider having your child go through carpool on Monday if you are unsure if they will follow your guidance (please complete the Dismissal Change Document on Monday if you choose carpool). The peak here will be between 1:58-3:15 p.m.

    Grateful for you,

    Sherri Miller
