Friday Words - 06/10/22
A huge thank you goes out to our wonderful Lacy community for all the support you have given us this year and allowing us to love, support, and educate your child(ren). We started the year thinking we were over the pandemic and things would be “back to normal.” We set the goal of doing all that we could to keep our school doors open and to avoid having to shut down classrooms, grade levels or our school due to COVID. We did it and it truly took a village! On the days when we were short staffed by teachers, it was wonderful to be able to rely on our Foundation paid IAs to sub and keep instruction going. Thank you for the financial donations to allow us to fund so many IAs to support our students and teachers (and a full-time Spanish teacher).
Thank you to our PTA Co-Presidents, Emily Funderburk and Ashley Silverman, and all the PTA Committee Leaders and incredible volunteers. Thank you to our Foundation President, Wesley Gelb, and the Foundation Board and incredible volunteers. Lacy is a very special place with all the support we receive from our generous community. Thank you!
As you go into the summer, please encourage your child to read every day for at least 20 minutes (this can include you reading to them). We want to avoid a summer learning slide and this can be avoided if your child continues to engage in learning throughout the summer (like reading for enjoyment!).
Thank you for a wonderful 2021-2022 school year and hope to see you on August 24th at our Meet the Teacher event. For our 6th graders and families who will not be at Lacy next year, we wish you the best!
· July 12-29 - Read to Achieve Summer Camp (for those invited)
· August 24 – Meet the Teacher
· August 29 – 1st Day of School

Apply for free and reduced-price school meals
All students currently receive free school meals supported by federal funding due to the pandemic. This funding is set to end on June 30, 2022. In order to receive free or reduced-price meals for next school year, families need to submit a meal benefits application.
All families must complete an application for the 2022-2023 school year starting July 1 in order to receive benefits. Please allow 10 business days for processing.
For every student that turns in the free and reduced meals application and qualifies, the school also receives federal funds that benefit the students and teachers at the school.
We need you to complete a 2022-2023 meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for extra funding next year. If you have not completed a free or reduced-price meal application and think your child may be eligible, pick up an application at your child’s school or apply online. Paper applications can also be requested by calling 919-588-3535 or 919-856-2920 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
LACY PTA INFORMATION
Field Day was AWESOME!!!
Thank you to all the students, staff, and parent volunteers who made Field Day happen last week! We are so grateful! It was such a fun day. And a special thanks to Coach Smith, Brooke Fork, and Rachel Walker for their vision and leadership! Can’t wait ‘til next time!
We hope you treasure this yearbook and the memories encapsulated here. During the printing process, Ms. Slivka’s ECS I class, Ms. DeJong’s ECS II class, and Ms. Jones’ 2nd grade class photos were inadvertently left out of the yearbook. We offer our heartfelt apology as we value EVERY student and staff member that make up our Lacy community. Your child will receive an insert in the mail that will include the pages of these classes. They will come pre-taped and can go directly into the yearbook. This will create a completed yearbook for the Lacy 2021-2022 school year. Again, we apologize, and wish everyone a happy and healthy summer!
Attention Parents of 5th graders going to Martin Middle School:
Martin PTA Needs You! Please consider serving with Martin PTA next year. We still need to fill some key Board and Committee Chair positions. If you are looking for a way to give back to our Martin Community (or have someone to recommend), please email PTA Vice President Angel Bolton at email@example.com. Thank you!
The PTA thanks you for a GREAT YEAR!!!
