Good afternoon WFMS families,
Meet the Teacher
Meet the Teacher will be held this Thursday, September 19th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Families will have the opportunity to walk through their student’s schedule and hear from teachers about their classes and expectations. We will host a Title I presentation in the gym at 5pm and our general PTSA meeting will be held in the gym immediately following our final session at 6:45pm. A copy of the evening’s schedule is linked below. Families should have their student write their schedule out with room numbers or access a copy of PowerSchool in order to move throughout the building for the event.
New Staff
We are pleased to announce our new 8th grade science teacher, Ms. Barrett Winder begins this coming Monday, September 16th and our new 7th/ 8th grade science teacher, Mr. Tommie Gray, will begin the following Monday, September 23rd. Thank you to our families and students for your patience as we have navigated the hiring process to onboard these staff members.
Fall Pictures
Fall pictures will occur on September 18th and 19th. Pictures will be taken during your students' Healthful Living/PE class (B Day PE is the 18th and A Day PE is the 19th). Students in Ms. Coghill and Ms. Ackerman’s homerooms will take their pictures on the 18th.
Lifetouch has revamped their ordering process. The ordering process is now completely online and pictures will be sent directly to your house. Students went home with Flyers this week on how to order pictures with all necessary directions.

Counselor Corner
This week, we highlight Mr. JamalFleet, WFMS Data Manager, as a key member of the Student Services Team. He is the person to whom you report any absences for your student, in order to have them excused. As our athletic teams are starting up, there have been many questions around attendance and how to have an absence excused because regular attendance is a requirement to make the teams! If your student will be/has been out of school, you can send in a note with your student to turn into a folder in the front office or you can fill out this easy Google Form. Please open this link and save to your device for easy access throughout the year. It is also always found on the bottom of the front page of the Wake Forest Middle School website and on the Student Services website under the excusing an absence tab. Also on the Student Services website is information about attendance in general. Please check it out for attendance information and a host of other resources.
7th Grade Immunizations
North Carolina law requires that all rising 7th graders must present proof of receiving the Tdap and meningococcal immunizations by September 25th. Any student non-compliant after the due date will be excluded from school and not allowed to attend until proof of compliance has been submitted.
WFMS must have a copy of your physician's record of these vaccines. Please contact your physician for more information regarding these immunization requirements.
Immunization records can be emailed to jfleet@wcpss.net or faxed to 919.670.4223 (Attention: Jamal Fleet). If you have additional questions, please contact our Data Manager at 919-554-8440 x22437 or Option 1.
