Volunteer Renewal window closing on October 1st

Families and individuals who were approved to volunteer in the 2023-24 school year should have received a reminder email on Sept. 5 about the simple volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year. Please renew your volunteer status by Oct. 1. 

 

Boosterthon Fun Run

Our Boosterthon event was not only a ton of fun, but (thanks to your generous donations) it was also a super successful fundraiser! Our goal was $25,000 and as of Friday morning we had raised $23,600! Since we are SO CLOSE the Boosterthon team agreed to leave pledging open through the weekend so we can meet our goal. We have confidence that it will happen, so we went ahead and celebrated on Friday by treating the students to an inflatable mascot race run by our staff, and Dr. Simmons was the winner! Track out camps

Are you interested in signing your child up for camp during track out? Check out some options here:

 

Garden Club- Attention 4th and 5th Grade Parents!  

Does your child like playing in the dirt?  Taking care of plants?  If you said yes, then they might want to join the garden club!    We will meet AFTER SCHOOL in the garden on Thursday afternoons.  Our work will begin at 4:00 and parents will need to pick up their child at 5:15. Activities we will be completing this year include the following: building new beds, WEEDING, planting seeds and plants, watering, raking, turning dirt, caring for the plants, harvesting, etc.  It will be hard work and we will get dirty!  The club will be limited to 20 4th and 5th graders.  We will start working in the garden on  9/12/24.  Fill out the application HERE and you will receive a confirmation message on Talking Points/Email from Mrs. Vaughan letting you know that your child's participation has been approved.  If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Vaughan (jvaughan2@wcpss.net)

Reflections Art Contest - The PTA will be sponsoring an art contest for all students! This year's theme is "Accepting Imperfection" - students can create art in one of six categories, and write a short statement about how their piece shows the theme. Deadline is October 23rd, students can turn in submissions during track out. Information, contest rules, and submission forms were sent home in Friday Folders. If your child is interested and you didn't receive information in their Friday Folder please email banksptapresident10225@gmail.com

 

Spirit Night Thursday, September 26th at Hwy55 - Enjoy burgers and shakes at Hwy55 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm, and a portion of your purchase will get donated to the school!

AiG Testing Fall Nomination Window

The window for 4th and 5th grade students for AIG testing will open soon.  We are accepting parent nominations until September 12, 2024.  Testing will begin on September 16, 2024 and will consist of the CogAT and IOWA.  We are looking for a score of 95% or higher to qualify for AIG services in math and reading.  Please look at your child's CogAT, IOWA,  EOG scores and any other data  from last year to make a nomination.  Be sure you ask your child's teacher if this type of differentiation is appropriate. We will meet with our committee to go over all of the nominations and decide if this type of testing is appropriate for your child. La ventana de renovación voluntaria cerrará el 1 de octubre

Las familias e individuos que fueron aprobados para ser voluntarios en el año escolar 2023-24 deberían haber recibido un correo electrónico recordatorio el 5 de septiembre sobre el proceso simple de renovación de voluntariado para el año escolar 2024-25. Por favor renovar tu estatus de voluntario antes del 1 de octubre. 

 

Carrera divertida Boosterthon

Nuestro evento Boosterthon no solo fue muy divertido, sino que (gracias a sus generosas donaciones) ¡también fue una recaudación de fondos súper exitosa! ¡Nuestra meta era $25,000 y hasta el viernes por la mañana habíamos recaudado $23,600! Como estamos TAN CERCA, el equipo de Boosterthon acordó dejar abiertas las promesas durante el fin de semana para que podamos cumplir nuestro objetivo. Tenemos confianza en que sucederá, así que seguimos adelante y lo celebramos el viernes invitando a los estudiantes a una carrera de mascotas inflables dirigida por nuestro personal, ¡y el Dr. Simmons fue el ganador! Seguimiento de campamentos

¿Está interesado en inscribir a su hijo en el campamento durante el track out? Mira algunas opciones aquí:

 

Garden Club- ¡Atención padres de 4to y 5to grado!  

¿A su hijo le gusta jugar en la tierra?  ¿Cuidar las plantas?  Si dijiste que sí, ¡es posible que quieran unirse al club de jardinería!    Nos reuniremos DESPUÉS DE CLASES en el jardín los jueves por la tarde.  Nuestro trabajo comenzará a las 4:00 y los padres deberán recoger a sus hijos a las 5:15. Las actividades que completaremos este año incluyen las siguientes: construir camas nuevas, DEShierbar, plantar semillas y plantas, regar, rastrillar, remover la tierra, cuidar las plantas, cosechar, etc. ¡Será un trabajo duro y nos ensuciaremos!  El club estará limitado a 20 estudiantes de 4º y 5º grado.  Empezaremos a trabajar en el jardín el 12/09/24.  Llene la solicitud AQUÍ y recibirá un mensaje de confirmación en Talking Points/Email de la Sra. Concurso de arte Reflections: ¡La PTA patrocinará un concurso de arte para todos los estudiantes! El tema de este año es "Aceptar la imperfección": los estudiantes pueden crear arte en una de seis categorías y escribir una breve declaración sobre cómo su pieza muestra el tema. La fecha límite es 23 de octubre, los estudiantes pueden entregar sus envíos durante el seguimiento. La información, las reglas del concurso y los formularios de presentación se enviaron a casa en las carpetas de los viernes. Si su hijo está interesado y no recibió información en su carpeta del viernes, envíe un correo electrónico a bankingptapresident10225@gmail.com.

Ventana de nominación de otoño para pruebas de AiG

La ventana para los estudiantes de 4to y 5to grado para las pruebas AIG se abrirá pronto.  Estamos aceptando nominaciones de padres hasta 12 de septiembre de 2024.  Las pruebas comenzarán el 16 de septiembre de 2024 y estarán compuestas por CogAT e IOWA.  Buscamos una puntuación del 95% o más para calificar para los servicios de AIG en matemáticas y lectura.  Consulte los puntajes de CogAT, IOWA, EOG de su hijo y cualquier otro dato del año pasado para hacer una nominación.  Asegúrese de preguntarle al maestro de su hijo si este tipo de diferenciación es apropiado. Nos reuniremos con nuestro comité para revisar todas las nominaciones y decidir si este tipo de prueba es apropiado para su hijo.
