EOG testing this week for students in grades 4-5

Our Trailblazers have worked hard all year and it is time for them to show what they know! Please note that we will have a modified lunch, specials, and recess schedule for ALL students to accommodate the state testing on June 17^th (Math), 18th, (ELA), and 20th (SCIENCE). You can help your child to do their best by:

-making sure they head to bed early (without any electronics) to get a good night's sleep

-making sure they up early enough to get to school on time (late students will not be allowed into the testing environment and will have to take the test during the make-up days) and that they are not absent/checked out early on testing days 

-remaining positive- tell your child to take their time and do their very best- they've got this!!!!

Remediation and retesting on June 27th and June 28th 

If your child (grades 3-5 only) is receiving a passing grade in a tested subject area but does not pass the EOG, they will be invited to participate in our EOG Remediation and Readministration program. You will receive an invitation/phone call for your child to attend the retesting days on June 27^th and June 28th. Transportation and meals will be provided.

24-25 class assignments and Kindergarten information

Your Trailblazer will receive a postcard in the mail during the week of July 8th. The postcard will include the teacher assignment for students in grades 1-5 and the staggered entry date for rising Kindergarteners. Kindergarten parents will learn more about the staggered entry process during Kindergarten orientation on June 20th. If you don't receive your postcard by July 19th, please contact Ms. Coppage at tcoppage@wcpss.net.

PTA Updates

Virtual Vote for PTA Treasurer

Due to a number of circumstances, the PTA is holding a virtual vote for our Treasurer position starting Fall 2024 via Google Form. This is a two year position, and Sara Yontz has been nominated. Sara has been an integral member of the executive committee this spring as a member at large, creating flyers, organizing teacher appreciation gifts, and continually stepping up to help  - whether it's planning the summer luau, sweating it out during Field Day, or helping proctor EOGs. She served on her previous school's PTA as chair of the Advocacy committee, and she has a 3rd and 5th grader at Banks this year. Calling all rising Kindergarten families!

Families with Rising Kindergarteners for the 24-25 School Year- we will celebrate starting kindergarten and make the milestone memorable. Starting kindergarten is a big life event for both students and parents. Like with most big changes, the key to a successful transition into a new environment is preparation. Kick-off to Kindergarten helps kids and families get school ready! Thursday, June 20, 2024 • 3-7pm. (Free admission to the museum for rising kindergartner and their family.)

Additionally, parents with a rising Kindergarten student are invited to attend our Kindergarten orientation (parent only event) on Thursday, June 20th at 5:30. We would also like to invite all rising Kindergarten students and families to a popsicle playground party from 4:30-5:30 on Thursday, July 25th!  

EOG proctors needed

EOG testing will be here before we know it (June 12-24) and we will need volunteers to assist with proctoring. Remember you MUST complete the required volunteer registration & background check in the office (and be approved) prior to testing. Pruebas EOG esta semana para estudiantes en los grados 4-5

¡Nuestros Trailblazers han trabajado duro todo el año y es hora de que demuestren lo que saben! Tenga en cuenta que tendremos un horario modificado de almuerzo, especiales y recreos para TODOS los estudiantes para adaptarse a los exámenes estatales el 17 de junio.^th (Matemáticas), 18, (ELA) y 20 (CIENCIA). Puede ayudar a su hijo a hacer lo mejor que pueda al:

-Asegurarse de que se acuesten temprano (sin ningún dispositivo electrónico) para dormir bien por la noche.

-asegurarse de que se levanten lo suficientemente temprano para llegar a la escuela a tiempo (los estudiantes que lleguen tarde no podrán ingresar al entorno de prueba y tendrán que tomar la prueba durante los días de recuperación) y que no estén ausentes o que no se retiren temprano durante la prueba días 

-manteniendo una actitud positiva- dígale a su hijo que se tome su tiempo y haga lo mejor que pueda- ¡¡¡ellos tienen esto!!!!

Remediación y nueva prueba el 27 y 28 de junio 

Si su hijo (grados 3 a 5 únicamente) recibe una calificación aprobatoria en un área temática evaluada pero no aprueba el EOG, se le invitará a participar en nuestro programa de recuperación y readministración del EOG. Recibirá una invitación/llamada telefónica para que su hijo asista a los días de repetición de exámenes el 27 de junio.^th y 28 de junio. Se proporcionará transporte y comidas.

24-25 tareas de clase e información sobre jardín de infantes

Su Trailblazer recibirá una postal por correo durante la semana del 8 de julio. La postal incluirá la asignación de maestros para los estudiantes de 1.° a 5.° grado y la fecha de ingreso escalonada para los estudiantes que ingresan al jardín de infantes. Los padres de kindergarten aprenderán más sobre el proceso de ingreso escalonado durante la orientación de kindergarten el 20 de junio. Votación virtual para el tesorero de la PTA

Debido a una serie de circunstancias, la PTA realizará una votación virtual para nuestro puesto de Tesorero a partir del otoño de 2024 a través del formulario de Google. Este es un puesto de dos años y Sara Yontz ha sido nominada. Sara ha sido un miembro integral del comité ejecutivo esta primavera como miembro general, creando folletos, organizando obsequios de agradecimiento a los maestros y continuamente brindando ayuda, ya sea planificando el luau de verano, sudando durante el día de campo o ayudando al supervisor. EOG. Ella trabajó en la PTA de su escuela anterior como presidenta del comité de defensa y este año tiene un estudiante de tercer y quinto grado en Banks. ¡Llamando a todas las familias en ascenso al jardín de infantes!

Familias con futuros estudiantes de kindergarten para el año escolar 24-25: celebraremos el inicio del kindergarten y haremos que el hito sea memorable. Comenzar el jardín de infantes es un gran acontecimiento en la vida tanto para los estudiantes como para los padres. Como ocurre con la mayoría de los cambios importantes, la clave para una transición exitosa a un nuevo entorno es la preparación. ¡El inicio del jardín de infantes ayuda a los niños y las familias a prepararse para la escuela! Jueves 20 de junio de 2024 • 15-19 h. (Entrada gratuita al museo para estudiantes de jardín de infantes y sus familias).

Las pruebas EOG estarán aquí antes de que nos demos cuenta (del 12 al 24 de junio) y necesitaremos voluntarios para ayudar con la supervisión. Recuerde que DEBE completar los requisitos registro de voluntarios & verificación de antecedentes en la oficina (y ser aprobado) antes del examen.
