National teacher appreciation week

May 6-10 is National teacher appreciation week! Our PTA has come up with the following ideas to show our hardworking staff some love and support this week. Please click here for details and access to a list of our staff’s favorite things.

24-25 teacher placements- feedback is welcome!

As we begin to look towards the 24-25 school year, we will take many factors into consideration to ensure that each child is placed into a learning environment that is the right fit for them- both academically and socially. While it is not possible to honor requests for specific teachers, we do welcome your input into the process. Feedback will be accepted until June 2nd. Please email Dr. Simmons at ssimmons@wcpss.net with any input you would like to share regarding the following parameters:

1. Please list the characteristics of a teacher that you feel your child learns best from (i.e. nurturing/motherly or firm/structured)- please DO NOT list specific teacher names.

2. Please list any other factors I may need to consider

Additionally, it is important to know exactly how many students are returning and/or leaving. Please take this brief survey to let us know your plans so we can make sure we hire the correct amount of staff!

EOG proctors needed

EOG testing will be here before we know it (June 12-24) and we will need volunteers to assist with proctoring. Remember you MUST complete the required volunteer registration & background check in the office (and be approved) prior to testing. If you have specific questions about the testing process or proctoring, please reach out to our Testing Coordinators, Mrs. Roy (broy@wcpss.net) and Ms. Cox (jbraccocox@wcpss.net)

Student Device Program Updates

Students who withdraw from WCPSS are required to return their Chromebook on or before their last day of school. Students in grades 5, 8, or 12 are required to return their assigned Chromebook at the end of this school year. These students will receive new Chromebooks at the beginning of their grade 6 and 9 school year. All other students (grades 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, and 11) will keep their assigned Chromebook through the transition to the 2024-25 school year, even if they are transferring to another WCPSS school.

24-25 colocaciones docentes: ¡sus comentarios son bienvenidos!

A medida que comenzamos a mirar hacia el año escolar 24-25, tomaremos en consideración muchos factores para garantizar que cada niño sea ubicado en un ambiente de aprendizaje que sea el adecuado para ellos, tanto académica como socialmente. Mientrasno es posible cumplir con las solicitudes de maestros específicos, Agradecemos su aportación al proceso. Se aceptarán comentarios hasta el 2 de junio. Se necesitan supervisores del EOG

Las pruebas EOG estarán aquí antes de que nos demos cuenta (del 12 al 24 de junio) y necesitaremos voluntarios para ayudar con la supervisión. Recuerde que DEBE completar el registro de voluntario y la verificación de antecedentes requeridos en la oficina (y ser aprobado) antes del examen. Si tiene preguntas específicas sobre el proceso de prueba o la supervisión, comuníquese con nuestras coordinadoras de pruebas, la Sra. Roy (broy@wcpss.net) y la Sra. Cox (jbraccocox@wcpss.net).

Actualizaciones del programa de dispositivos para estudiantes

Los estudiantes que se dan de baja de WCPSS deben devolver su Chromebook el último día de clases o antes. Los estudiantes en los grados 5, 8 o 12 deben devolver su Chromebook asignado al final de este año escolar. Estos estudiantes recibirán nuevos Chromebooks al comienzo de su año escolar de sexto y noveno grado. Todos los demás estudiantes (grados 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10 y 11) conservarán su Chromebook asignado durante la transición al año escolar 2024-25, incluso si se transfieren a otra escuela de WCPSS.
