Students are not allowed to hand out party invitations at school. This is our current practice for a few reasons. First, if everyone isn't invited to the party, it creates emotional upset for those that are left out. Secondly, sometimes students want to deliver invites to friends in other classrooms and with over 600 students, it isn't possible to help facilitate the time and supervision necessary to make this occur. Third, any forms that are sent home in our folders are supposed to be sanctioned, by WCPSS. We appreciate your support and understanding with this practice.
Attendance letters notifying you if your child has accrued 3, 6, 10 or more unexcused absences have been mailed out. These letters are required by the State of North Carolina. In addition, the warning issues within the letter about a possible violation of the law is also required by the state. Please note that receiving the letter does not mean that you will be automatically referred to court. However, we do want your child to be successful and daily attendance is a huge component of success. If you receive a letter, please reach out to Mr. Brody, Mr. Day or Ms. Meznarich so we can help you create a plan for improvement.
