Trailblazer Times for Week of February 10-14, 2020

Good morning Trailblazer Families,

By now, you have received a voice messaege from Wake County Public Schools saying that school is cancelled for today. All evening events are cancelled as well - so, unfortunately, we will not have th Family Fancy Dance tonight. We hope everyone is inside and staying safe. We will let you know when a decision is made about making up the day when WCPSS announces their decision. There will not be another newsletter this week-end.

We will extend the deadline for the musical t-shirts until next Monday, February 10. The Science is Fun in house field trip for 4th grade will be moved to another date. Also, Club Pictures for the Yearbook will be made on Thursday, February 13 instead of today.

Positivity Project will kick off on Monday, February 10th with #otherpeoplematter. Look for additional information about P2 in upcoming newsletters.

Finally, Denise Moore was an exceptional and beloved teacher a Banks Road who passed away unexpectedly in 2016.  Her husband, also a teacher, and family set up a foundation in her honor.  The Denise H. Memorial Foundation was created to carry on Denise's legacy in education and Girls on the Run.  The fund supports excellence in education through supporting teachers who continue to strive to improve themselves in the field of education.  Mrs. Moore always believed in lifetime learning and positively impacting her students and those with whom she worked. Mrs. Moore's love and enjoyment of the Girls on the Run program will continue to be supported by donations raised through this fund.  To date, this fund has supported the following organizations: Girls on the Run of the Triangle, Banks Road PTA, multiple schools in Fuquay Varina, Garner and Holly Springs, and provided scholarships to 3 teachers who received their National Board Certifications.  There is an upcoming fundraisers and we welcome your support in continuing Ms. Moore's legacy.  Join us for the 4th Annual Run for Dee Dee 5k! The race will be Saturday, April 4th and begins at 7am at Sugg Farm at Bass Lake.  Sign up to sponsor, volunteer, or run at:

Thanks in advance to the PTA for sponsoring a lunch on February 14, for the faculty and staff. Also, we want to thank Allison Wood for her service to the BRES school community as PTA president. We wish her family well in their upcoming move. Stay safe everyone!
