Spring Musical. | Get ready for our annual “Music in our Schools” performance. The students are working extremely hard on their parts in music class. All students will receive a shirt for their grade level. T-Shirt Orders are due by this coming Friday, February 7th! Feel free to drop the money in the PTA mailbox along with a t-shirt order. Email Ms. LaPlace if you have any questions. The dates/times for the musical are as follows:
April 16 - Tracks 1 and 3 - K-2 is at 9:30 and 3-5 will perform at 10:45
April 30 - Tracks 2 and 4 - K-2 is at 9:30 and 3-5 will perform at 10:45. Please mark your calendars for this special event!
National School Counseling Week is February 3-7, 2020 | As many of you are aware, Mr. Day has been at Banks Road for a number of years as our only (until recently) full time counselor. He has worked diligently with students, staff and our school families, touching lives in so many ways. He has coordinated with PTA for the Holiday program, mentored students, co-coordinated Safety Patrol, provided school tours, registered students for middle school, served on the intervention team, promoted PBIS, assisted parents in seeking resources, and has generally advocated for students, staff and families in the BRES community. We encourage anyone who has a story to share or a message of thanks, to send those to Mr. Day this week. He has been joined by Mr. Elliot Brody, our new counselor as of January 2, 2020. Please join us in thanking them for their leadership and service as part of School Counseling Week.
Friday, February 7th, happenings. | We have some important things happening Friday.
Yearbook pictures are on the calendar for this coming Friday.
The Family Fancy Dance will be happening at BRES from 5-7:15. We will have two food trucks coming in addition to the dancing festivities.
Interim reports go home with tracks 1 and 2 this week. They have been in school 5 weeks since returning in January. Time has flown!
Finally, join us in thanking Ms. Allison Wood, our PTA president who will be moving to the Charlotte area with her family soon. The Family Fancy Dance is her last official event.
Positivity Project (P2) is coming to BRES on February 10. | Soon, you will begin to see #otherpeoplematter around BRES as we kick off the Positivey Project. The Project teaches children by acknowledging that the 24 character strengths are already a part of who they are as people. It helps them to realize that each and everyone one of them have these strengths inside. We want children to internalize the traits that society honors, such as courage, gratitude, connection, hope, humility, kindness, perseverance, and more. Each week in the Trailblazer Times, we will share the character strength that we will be focusing on school wide, so you can discuss these with your child.
Black History Month. | February is Black History Mont and we will take some time each day to recognize the central role of blacks in U. S. History. We will relect on these Trailblazers of the past and present on the morning announcements and in other activities this month at BRES.
Make it a great week!
