Students enjoyed the performance by Donna Washington.
On Tuesday, February 11th, our students had the opportunity to enjoy a performance by storyteller, Donna Washington. Ms. Washington is an internationally known, award winning storyteller and is an artist with the United Arts Council Artists in Schools program. Our students enjoyed grade level specific stories to support literacy themes and concepts that they are being taught in the classroom. The students (and teachers) had a great time during these interactive stories! The PTA is so happy to be able to offer arts programs in our schools and look forward to our next arts program in March with the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble.

Fun Run Friday, March 27
Once again, we will be having a Fun Run fundraiser! It’s a 10 day program that kicks off
with a pep rally on Wednesday, 3/18. Families will then gather pledges for every lap
your student runs (30-35 laps) at the Oakview PTA Fun Run, which will happen on
This year our goal is to raise $40,000 for Moving our School Toward 1:1 in-school
technology (1 device per student) & other PTA initiatives such as cultural events
and performances and additional equipment/supplies for our Specials. We
need your help!
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK: WILD WEST
using Booster’s videos and interactive daily huddles, which combine S.T.E.A.M. skills
(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While
they are teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to save Dr. Shock, our students will learn
five character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Donations will go toward our goal of Moving our School Toward 1:1 in-school
technology & other PTA initiatives and the entire 10 day experience. So please help our school by getting pledges from family and friends and entering them on FUNRUN.COM
Pledging opens on 3/11. Also, all families are encouraged to come out and cheer on the
students at our “Owlsome Fun Run”. Thanks so much for your support!
