Peak to the LevelPosted by Dr. Diann Kearney on 5/16/2017 6:00:00 AM
The Peak to the Level is more than just a catchy phrase – it is quickly becoming our reality. On Tuesday, June 13, we will celebrate the graduation of the class of 2017. Later that afternoon, we will finish packing and prepare for the arrival of the movers on Wednesday, June 14. While construction at the Green Level High School campus is complete, furniture is being moved in and the permitting process is in full swing. We do not yet know when we will move in at GLHS.
In the event of a delay between leaving the Laura Duncan Road site and moving into GLHS, we will be housed at Apex Middle School. Our clerical staff and administration will work out of AMS offices where we will have access to our records and registration materials. Between June 14 and the time we announce our arrival at GLHS, you may reach us by phone at 387-2208, by email, or by visiting us at AMS.
We look forward to our new, two-year home at GLHS, and to returning to the fully renovated Apex High School for the 2019-2020 school year. If you have any questions about the move, the renovation, or other matters, please call or email the designated staff member or reach out to our main office staff at 387-2208. Thank you for your support of Apex High School!

6 Months and CountingPosted by Dr. Diann Kearney on 12/28/2016 2:00:00 PM
Six months and counting! Apex High School (AHS) is scheduled to move from the Laura Duncan campus to our temporary home at the currently under construction Green Level High School (GLHS) on June 16, 2017. Plans for the full renovation of AHS have been approved by the Wake County Board of Education and due to the nature of the work it will be necessary for us to “swing” to GLHS which will serve as our home for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years.
The renovation plans include removal of all trailers and pods from the AHS campus and demolition of all three buildings including the gym, auditorium, cafeteria, and media center. Our new facility will house these common areas under one roof with an outdoor courtyard at the center of our campus. Enhancements to the traffic patterns on Laura Duncan Road and widened entrances (currently the “junior” and “senior” lots) will better accommodate buses, carpool, and student and staff drivers. Our two parking lots will be adjacent to the three primary points of entry – through the main lobby into the office, through the arts lobby into the auditorium and cafeteria, and through the athletics lobby into the main and auxiliary gyms. With ample space for collaboration and easy access to all classrooms and common areas, students and staff will find they have more time for instruction and will need less travel time to move from place to place. A spacious and inviting media center will be housed on the second floor just above the main office and is large enough to host three classes in addition to small groups and individuals. The main gym will accommodate over 2000, the auditorium will seat 850, and the entire campus is built to meet the needs of over 2200 students.
Green Level High School, just under 6 miles from AHS, GLHS is a beautiful campus situated at the corner of Green Level Church Road and Roberts Road. Built for a capacity of more than 2200, GLHS will serve as a comfortable “swing space” while AHS is under renovation. Easy access from Roberts Road will make student and visitor parking a breeze whether attending a sporting event or making their way to classes. Buses will load and unload from a dropoff accessible from Green Level Church Road. The building includes a large “dining room” that is located just inside the main entrance. Behind the dining room, you will find the auditorium and Performing and Visual Arts wing. Adjacent to the dining room are the main and auxiliary gyms. The media center is located at the top of stairs above the main office. The classroom tower is connected to the common areas by a fully enclosed connector which provides a wonderful view of the campus. There are two practice fields, tennis courts, baseball and softball fields and football/soccer/lacrosse field with concession stands, restrooms, and field house.
While it will be difficult to leave our home on Laura Duncan Road, we are excited about the future of Apex High School in a modern and efficient facility. Being able to bring our entire student body together for a Pep Rally in the gym or an entire grade level to the auditorium for an assembly or concert will have an immediate impact on our school culture. Housing departments and our Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) in close proximity will allow for even greater collaboration and sharing of resources. The move to GLHS for two years will allow us to return to a facility that will enhance all aspects of the work we do as a learning community.

Community Renovation Meeting 11/17/16 @ 6pmPosted by Apex HS Renovation Team on 11/16/2016 9:00:00 AM
Apex HS Neighbors,
We will hold a public meeting regarding the renovation process similar to the meeting we held earlier this year. The meeting will be held at Apex High School at 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 17th. We will meet in the school’s Media Center. Although work on the design has progressed since May, the overall layout will be the same as we discussed at that time.
Please see the attached letter for more details.
Renovation UpdatesPosted by Diann Kearney, Principal on 8/9/2016 8:00:00 AM
We are excited to announce that the Apex High School campus is scheduled for a full renovation to start after the last day of school, June 9, 2017. We will move off the AHS campus and relocate to the currently-under-construction Green Level High School which is located at the intersection of Green Level Church and Roberts Roads. We will reside at Green Level for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years. When we return to the Laura Duncan campus, we will occupy a new four story building with a tighter foot print, separate wings for the arts and athletics programs, and increased parking. This is a very exciting time for the Apex High School community and we look forward to the adventure ahead! If you have specific questions about the renovation, please email those to firstname.lastname@example.org and a member of our Renovation Team will respond. Additional information will be shared on the website, Twitter, and bulletin board in the main lobby.
