Ms. Schumann
National Board Certified Art educator of 23 years in grades K-12. My goal as SLES art specialist is to advise, guide, and support my student artists in their creative journeys providing authentic studio experiences where they can develop and choose their own ideas and materials to carry out their artistic visions. My hopes and dreams is to inspire my little artists to find their artistic passion where they can freely express themselves. I am skilled in various forms of art from painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, and more. Wife to a supportive loving husband and mother to 2 adventurous boys (young men now). Hobbies include: ceramics, painting, photography, yoga, kayaking, boating, hiking, and traveling. Favorite trip adventure was Paris in 2015.

Ms. Moravek
My name is Carolyn Moravek and I am South Lakes Music Teacher! I began teaching in 2014 after completing my Bachelor’s in Music and Master’s degree in Education at Virginia Tech. I spent my first two years teaching in Charleston, South Carolina while my husband began his military career in the Navy. We then spent 4 years in Norfolk, Virginia where we began to put down roots for our family with our two little boys. After my husband got out of the Navy we decided to make a move to a place that we loved where we knew our boys could have a great education and both of our careers could flourish and we found Wake county! I firmly believe that Music Education is a vital role in a child’s life and is key to teaching life skills as well as a life long appreciation of music and all arts.

Ms. Scinta
I was born and raised in a city outside of Buffalo, New York. I received my BA in elementary education with a concentration in math from Niagara University. I have taught 5th, 4th and 2nd grade classrooms before moving into Physical Education 4 years ago! Growing up I loved (and still love) being outside, camping, hiking, and playing sports. I coached soccer, basketball, and baseball. My favorite place to be in the whole world is Disney World! I am as some may say a little Disney obsessed! My family is very important to me and I love spending time with them. I have been married for 11 years and we have one son who will also be a sea turtle this year! I believe all students can learn and when we are together in the PE classroom we can support each other and help develop our various skills! To me the most important thing you can bring to PE (besides sneakers) is a positive attitude and trying your personal best. I can’t wait to meet everyone and look forward to this new adventure!

Ms. Adams
I am originally from Farmington, CT but have called North Carolina home for over 20 years. I absolutely love it here! My adventure in teaching began in 2004 upon graduating with a BS in Birth - Kindergarten Education from East Carolina University. I spent many years teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade prior to moving into the library in 2012. I believe the library is the heart of the school and inspires students to become lifelong readers and learners. I am very much looking forward to working with all the students and teachers at South Lakes Elementary! In my free time, I enjoy getting outdoors, yoga, cooking and spending time with my husband, Pierce, and my two children Ellison (4) and Grayson (2). Both future Sea Turtles! 🐢

Ms. Weaver
My name is Ashton Weaver and I am the Health and Wellness Teacher at South Lakes Elementary. I am currently in my second year of teaching, and I love it! I graduated from Campbell University in 2019 with a degree in Exercise Science, and began my teaching career last year. I have coached volleyball for 4 years, and enjoy being physically active. In my free time you might find me spending time with my husband/family, in the garden, cooking, reading a good book or lounging at the beach. I feel that it is important that we have a better understanding of our health and the positive effect of physical activity on our physical and mental wellbeing. I can't wait to get to know all of you!
