    WCPSS List of Community Resources - variety of community services are available to provide parents and families of students in the school system with needed information, support, and resources. Families are encouraged to utilize applicable community services.

    • Raleigh/Wake Partnership - helps families assess their housing needs and begin finding resources and/or accommodations.
    • "Wake Prevent!" - rent assistance program that also helps connect families to shelters & other support systems. It's referral-based, so families must go through the coordinated entry process. Coordinated entry locations:

    Note in the Pocket - SCORE staff must make the referral, so please contact your student's counselor for more information about the referral process. Information needed from the parent/guardian includes:
    • Name/age/school (if student) - Note in the Pocket will help clothe all family members, not just students
    • Sizes for all types of clothing (as specific as possible) - shirt, shorts, pants (waist/length), coats, undergarments, shoes/socks, etc.
    • Special requests (i.e. four-year old boy loves Iron Man, 13-year-old girl really just needs a warm coat, the parent needs black pants for work, etc.)
     
    Toiletries
    • Each SCORE campus may have toiletries kits for families. Contact your student's counselor to inquire.

    ​**Parents/guardians are also encouraged to contact their insurance provider to obtain a list of approved/in-network mental health providers and substance abuse counselors.
     
    Mental Health Needs & Crisis Resources
    • Daybreak Health - WCPSS has partnered with Daybreak Health to provide free/low-cost teletherapy to WCPSS students. Contact your student's counselor for more information about the referral process.
    • Wake County Crisis Services:
      • 988 is the mental health emergency services number. If you or anyone you know is in crisis and needs immediate support, dial 988
      • For a medical or life-threatening emergency, dial 911 and request a “CIT Officer.” These first responders have gone through Crisis Intervention Training to assist with mental health concerns, substance use, and individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability.
    • Mobile Crisis - 24/7 assessment and triage for crisis response. A mental health professional will triage over the phone and, if needed, will go into the community to evaluate an individual for safety and provide crisis stabilization services.

      • Request Mobile Crisis through the Alliance Health Access Line (800-510-9132)

    • NC Child Treatment Program - searchable list of trained providers in NC 

    • Hope Services (accepts Medicaid): provides clinical assessments and various mental health services for children and adults.

    • Haven House - offers a variety of programs to support youth & their parents/guardians, including outpatient therapy. Contact your student's counselor for more information.

    Parenting Resources
    • Diaper Train - provides diapers to clients every four weeks. SCORE staff must make a referral, so contact your student's counselor for more information about the referral process.

      • 1-on-1 coaching and parenting education classes covering the following:
        • Parenting 101
        • Parenting infants & toddlers
        • Parenting adolescents

    • Safe Child - variety of resources on their website as well as parenting classes
    • Family Resource Center - variety of resources, including "Parenting Wisely" (specifically for parents of adolescents)
    • Fathers Forever - 12-week training course aimed at teaching fathers the importance of their role in the family unit
    • Project Englightenment - services for parents of children age 0-5, including parent education, consultation, counseling
