2024-25 School Year Information
-
Greetings, Pine Hollow families, and welcome to the 2024-25 school year! As the new school year quickly approaches, we wanted to ensure that all families had quick and easy access to key information for the new school year. As more information becomes available in the lead up to the first day for students on July 8 (for Tracks 1 & 3) and July 29 (for Track 4), we will continue updating this space with information that may be helpful.

Bus Transportation Status
A few weeks ago, families with children eligible to receive bus transportation should have received an email about rider status for the 2024-25 school year. Be sure to view your student’s 2024-25 Transportation status in PowerSchool. Your student’s AM and/or PM transportation codes will display “Y” (yes) or “N” (no) for the 2024-25 school year until routes are posted. Routes usually are posted about 10 days before the start of the school year.
-
If your student’s code is “Y” and your student will be using transportation next school year, no action is required.
-
If your student’s code is “N” and you would like for your student to use transportation next school year, please submit a transportation request.
-
If your student’s code is “Y” and your student will not be using transportation next school year, please submit the decline bus form at www.wcpss.net/declinebus.

Join PTSA
It's never too early to join the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and to make a difference in your child’s education! Our school's PTSA plays a critical role in supporting so many components of our school, helping to fund essential programs, sponsoring teacher appreciation events, assisting with facility enhancement projects, and so much more. By signing up, you help to fund these things and many others. If you are able to, we invite you to join to assist us in beating our PTSA membership numbers from last year. New Bus Delay & Cancellation Notice System
WCPSS Technology Services and Transportation have developed a new system to directly notify families when there are disruptions to bus service, which will launch districtwide during the 2024-25 school year.
As a part of this new system, parents will receive direct notices via text and/or email if their child’s bus is delayed or if their route is canceled. To receive these notifications, parents will need to be signed up to receive messages via SchoolMessenger, which is the same system used for sharing the Weekly Principal’s Message from Dr. Carrington sent on Sundays (typically) along with the weekly district-wide messages sent on Wednesdays. If you receive these messages, you should be able to receive bus notifications without taking any further action.
If you do not receive those weekly messages, go to wcpss.net/schoolmessenger to learn how you can sign up to receive notifications. The simplest option may be to simply text YES to the number 67587. That should automatically allow you to begin receiving text notifications. -
School Supply List
To assist families in preparing for the 2024-25 school year, we have created compiled grade level supply lists available here. The supplies listed on this handout are only for classes that all students are required to take (e.g., ELA, math, science, social studies, health/PE). Teachers for elective classes (e.g., art, chorus, technology, family & consumer sciences, etc.) will share lists of needed supplies during the first week of school.

Student Schedules
Counselors and administrators will be working on student schedules up until the first week of July, when PowerSchool goes down for statewide maintenance. Our hope is that PowerSchool will be restored by July 5, which will allow students who were enrolled at a WCPSS school in the Spring 2024 to access their schedule in PowerSchool.
If you/your child cannot locate their schedule using PowerSchool (or if PowerSchool is still down on July 5), please feel free to email our 6th Grade Counselor (Mr. Martin) to request a copy of your child's schedule (jwmartin@wcpss.net). All students will also receive a printed copy of their schedule on the first day of school.

Volunteer Registration for 2024-25
Looking for a way to get involved during the 2024-25 school year? If so, one way you can do this is by volunteering to assist with a variety of activities that come up over the year (e.g., school dances, awards ceremonies, concessions, etc.). To do this, you must be cleared as a WCPSS Volunteer.
Individuals who were approved to volunteer in the 2023-24 school year will simply need to renew their volunteer status. Approved volunteers should have received an email on/around June 1, 2024, outlining a simple volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year that will begin on July 1 and end on October 1.If you were not registered to volunteer this past year, you can always complete your initial application, as well. We would love to have you join us! For additional information, please view the WCPSS Volunteer page.
