Good Evening, Lion Families,
We are two weeks in, and kids are still having a blast! You should have seen the excitement at Fun Friday in the gym this morning - the 4th graders dominated the Minute to Win It competition. Thanks to all of those who have donated supplies and materials to help us start the school year strong! Please review the updates below and let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!
- Meet the Teacher - Pre-K and Kindergarten
- We enjoyed meeting the families of our littlest lions yesterday! Thank you for coming out, getting acquainted, and helping us learn about your children!
- Student Drop-Off
- Starting Monday, September 11, all parents will need to drop students off at the door to the school. For safety reasons, we cannot allow parents to walk their children to class. Any parents who wish to enter the school building must sign in at the main office and be screened by our digital sign-in system.
- Student Checkout in the Main Office
- As a reminder, no student checkout is allowed after 2:30 PM each day due to our need to prevent disruptions to dismissal procedures.
- SRES Family Handbook
- Please take some time to review the detailed school policies and procedures outlined in our handbook at THIS LINK. This handbook includes important information about arrival and dismissal, including carpool.
- Carpool Tags
- If you plan on picking up your child in the afternoon carpool line between 3:00-3:30 PM, and you need a carpool tag, please complete the form at THIS LINK. We will either give you the tag in the carpool line or send it home with your child. If you have multiple children, please list the information for each child on this form. Starting Monday, September 11, any car without a visible carpool tag hanging from the mirror will be asked to park and check out students from the front office with an ID. This is to ensure student safety.
- Upcoming Schoolwide Assessments
- All students will be taking the mClass reading skills assessment in the coming weeks. The results of this diagnostic assessment will help us determine which students needs additional support with reading skills. Please contact your child's teacher if you have questions.
- 3rd graders will take the Beginning of Grade Reading Test on Thursday, September 14th. This data will also be used to help differentiate instruction and provide additional support to students who are struggling with reading comprehension. Please contact your child's teacher if you have questions.
- Fall Open House - Curriculum Night
- Some of you may have heard that this is a September event, but this event will take place in October. More details to come!
- Interested in Volunteering?
- We expect to have many opportunities to welcome volunteers to our campus this year. If you are interested in volunteering with our school at some point this year, please register as a volunteer using THIS LINK. It will take a few days for your volunteer application to be processed. We appreciate your support!
Sincerely,
Lamar Hill, Principal
