I am excited to be a part of the Olds community and every year look forward to getting to know our new kinder pups in the P.A.C.K. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. After graduation, I taught one year in pre-kindergarten before finding my dream job teaching the most amazing grade level, kindergarten. There is no place like kindergarten! Kindergarten is a magical stage for nurturing each child's natural curiosity to learn through movement, singing, play, collaboration and laughter! Fostering a growth mindset and allowing students to practice self-regulation strategies is the key. The two skills combined provide students with the ability to approach challenging tasks and enjoy the lifelong process of learning. All students are capable of learning and exhibit different strengths. My job as an educator is to understand each child and find which research-based strategies will lead the students to success.
