Hi I am Riley Yates, the Drama teacher at Zebulon Magnet Elementary School.I graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in musical Theatre and Theatre Education

I have been teaching drama in Raleigh during the summers and at after-school programs since 2016. In the summer of 2022, I interned for The Rose Theater in Omaha, Nebraska. There I honed my skills as a teaching artist and director with their summer education program. In January of 2024 I started as the drama teacher at Zebulon Magnet Elementary.

I won best play for the Equity Theatre Library 10 minute playwriting competition in New York City, I love teaching playwriting and watching the amazing works my students create.

As a theatre educator I strive to create an equitable, safe and creative environment for all students. I help students gain confidence in themselves not just as actors and creators but as people.

I love playwriting. I love watching TV and movies, hangin out with friends and family. I love going to the pool and playing mermaids.
