Welcome to our new staff members!
Michelle Sautro, CCR track 4
Hi there, I am Mrs. Sautro! I am the Track 4 CCR teacher here at Harris Creek and this is my 13th year teaching in Wake County. One of my favorite things in the whole world is teaching and helping students, especially at a place where Eagles are commonly known! I grew up in Cary, North Carolina with my two younger sisters and am a proud alum of the Wake County Public School System. I graduated from UNC Greensboro with a dual major in Elementary and Special Education. I live with my husband, 4 year old daughter, and brand new baby girl (born June 26th!) in Wake Forest. When I am not teaching, I love to read, spend time with our huge extended family and cheer on the Carolina Hurricanes. I am so happy to be a part of the Harris Creek family!
Pam Foster, 4th grade track 2
Hi students and families! I'm Pam Foster and I'm so excited to join the Harris Creek staff this year! Let's make this a great school year!
A little about me: My husband and I have two children, both of whom graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. Jackson lives in Brooklyn, NY and Kristin is in Nashville, TN. We also have two dogs, a schnoodle named Lucy, and Macy, a greyhound. In my free time, I enjoy reading a good book, yoga, and spending time with my family and friends.
This is my 18th year teaching and 13th in 4th grade. I believe by working together as a team (parent, student, & teacher) we can provide the best possible education for children. Together, we can make this a great school year. I am excited to be an eagle at Harris Creek and can’t wait to get to know all my students and families this year!
Diana Bryant, First grade track 4
Hi Creek family! My name is Diana Bryant and I am excited to teach 1st grade, Track 4 at HC this year. This is my 17th year as a Wake County teacher and my 13th year in 1st grade. It is truly my favorite grade to teach! I live in Wake Forest with my husband and 3 children, 2 of whom will join me at HC! I love to hang out with my family, read, do craft projects, and try new restaurants. Looking forward to starting a great year soon!
Jen Marois, Intervention
I am so excited to be joining the Harris Creek family this year as an Intervention teacher! A fun fact about me is that I am the oldest of 32 cousins. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and took graduate courses at NC State University. I have a certification in English as a Second Language. I have taught in the classroom in Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Wake County, and have taught Intervention at York Elementary, The Reading Connection, and Sylvan Learning Center. My husband’s work took us to Indianapolis, IN and Austin, TX, and then we were thrilled to get to circle back here to my beautiful home state. We have a 21 year old daughter and 19 year old son with whom we enjoy training and playing with our bulldog name Winnie, walking on the American Tobacco Trail, mountain and beach trips as a family, and attending live music shows.
Kathy Battle, Social Worker
This is my first year at HCES and I am excited to be joining the Harris Creek Elementary family as the school social worker. I am looking forward to serving the students and families of HCES. I am originally from Wilson County but have been in Wake County for going on 3 years. I earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Barton College, Wilson and a Master of Social Work from East Carolina University, Greenville. I have also recently completed the Masters of School Administration post graduate program at Barton College. In practicing social work in the clinical, community, and school settings for over 16 years, I have developed skills in stabilizing families through providing case management and the appropriate community resources.
As the school social worker, I will serve as a link between school and home. I will advocate for the families of Harris Creek through linking them with parent resources, completing mental health, Note in the Pocket, and Green Chair referrals, and any other referrals to assist the families. I will also be partnering with parents to ensure that their student(s) has good school attendance and if not, I will work to address any barriers to school attendance and will complete court referrals. I will complete home visits when needed and identify and provide services for any Mckinney Vento students and their families. As the school social worker, I will partner with the SST team in providing backpack buddies for those students who need it and work to identify a community resource for holiday referrals.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my youngest two children: my daughter, who I travel all over the state and beyond with for volleyball games and tournaments, and my son, who is leaving soon for college. I also enjoy live bands with my significant other, reading and taking short beach trips.
