Ms. Shirnetta Harrell

Mrs. Harrell has been a School Social Worker for 3 years within WCPSS and has primarily worked in the alternative education realm. Prior to becoming employed with WCPSS, Mrs. Harrell gained over 5 years of experience in the social work field. Mrs. Harrell received a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Shaw University and received a Master of Social Work degree with a Concentration in Community Mental Health from Alabama A & M University. She completed her MSW in the Advanced Standing Program at Alabama A & M University and was one of the few undergraduate students to be a recipient of a grant to attend her graduate program. Mrs. Harrell has previous experience working in transitional youth foster care, residential treatment facilities and community mental health. Mrs. Harrell is compassionate about breaking barriers to academic, social and emotional progress for students. She enjoys advocating for students, creating community partnerships, educating staff, building relationships with students and helping facilitate parent/family engagement. In her spare time, Mrs. Harrell enjoys watching movies curled up on the couch, crafting, going on dates with her husband and having fun with her growing toddler. Mrs. Harrell is also a beginner runner and loves everything that includes self-care and overall wellness as a woman. On a work day, you can find her listening to calming music, laughing or hanging out in the cafeteria
