• Single Subject Acceleration (SSA)

    What is SSA?
SSA is the practice of placing a student in a higher-grade level in ONE subject area. This type of acceleration is for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in either math OR English Language Arts (ELA). Only students who are currently enrolled and attending a WCPSS school during the open nomination and testing window are eligible to be considered for SSA. Students are tested in either math OR ELA and must meet specific criteria to show they have already mastered the content in the grade they wish to skip.

How can I learn more about the SSA process and what it entails?
If you are interested in the Single Subject Acceleration program, please watch this informational video SSA Parent Information Presentation and view the One-Pager from the AIG Department.

Virtual and in-person informational sessions will be held prior to the nomination windows
You can also email the SSA Contact, Joanne Londe at jlonde@wcpss.net to ask questions.

When can I nominate my student for SSA?
