Dear Oakview Families,
We are now well into October! Thank you for your support of our Walk to School Day last week. Our PTA fundraiser is going well and if you have not contributed, please consider doing so! Feel free to invite other family members to contribute. 100% of donations will go to support the PTA programs this year. The first event for our students will be this Wednesday morning. All students will have a chance to see Digeredoo Downunder! It is a cultural arts performance that highlights the sounds and customs of the Aboriginal (Australian) people. This cultural arts performance for our students is made possible by the support of the Oakview Elementary PTA and the United Arts Council of Wake County. More information can be found at http://www.didgedownunder.com/
The Book Fair is coming the last week of October. Be on the lookout for important information about the Fall Bookfair! Also, 3rd graders will be taking the CogAt this week. All 3rd grade students in WCPSS participate in this test. CogAt stands for Cognitive Abilities Test.
As always, check our Twitter page and website often to keep up-to-date with all future events. Be sure to mark your calendars for October 20 as students will be dimissed at 1:15pm for an Early Release Day for staff workshops. October 31 will a teacher workday and the end of the first quarter grading period. During the next few weeks, many parent/teacher conferences are being held after school. If you have a teacher conference after 4:30pm, please be sure to enter the school through the cafeteria doors on the left side of the building. The office staff will not be available to allow you entrance after 4:30pm.
Have an #owlsome week.
