Teach the children so it will not be necessary to teach the adults.-Abraham Lincoln

OVES is celebrating Teacher Appreciation May 8 - May 11.  What amazing teachers and teacher assistants we have.  Please join me in thanking them for all their dedication to guide our students in becoming well prepared citizens!

We are putting processes in place to ensure the gate for the carpool lane is closed after morning carpool and afternoon carpool.  During the school day, until 3:30pm, students are using the blacktop for recess.  Please do not park or drive past the gate between 9:15am and 3:35pm.  Thank you for your cooperation to keep our students safe.

Later in May, a digital Google Form will be shared with parents so you may provide us with information about how your child learns best.  This will assist us in preparing our class assignments for the 2017 - 2018 school year.  Please refrain from making specific teacher requests.  All teachers at OVES are amazing and there are many factors considered when class teacher assignments are made.  Teacher assignments will be mailed mid-August.

    Upcoming This Week at OVES:

Monday, May 8 - Ms. Hartman will be recognized at the WCPSS Teacher of the Year Banquet at the Raleigh Convention Center!

    A few other important notes:

Yearbooks will go home this week to ALL students.  Each one is personalized with their picture and name.  If you wish the purchase the yearbook, please send $17 check payable to "Strawbridge Studios."  If you do not wish to purchase the yearbook, please return if to your child's teacher.  Payment information will be stapled to the yearbook.

Reminders - Student sign-outs should not occur after 3pm.  Our office staff is busy preparing for dismissal after 3pm.  If you have a change of transportation for your child, please send a note to your child's teacher or call the front office.  Do not communicate transportation changes via texts, emails, or Dojo.  If a teacher is absent, that communication can be lost.  Also, remember, please do not pull around cars waiting in carpool.  We work very hard to keep it moving very efficiently.  Pulling out around cars creates major safety concerns.  Thank you!

For all 3rd - 5th grade students - Our NC EOG Testing will begin May 26 - June 1, 2017.  Our schedule is posted on the school website.  Please know that all students should be present on those days.  Breakfast will be provided to 3rd - 5th grade students on the testing days for each respective grade level.

As always, thanks for all you do to support our school.
