Teaching has been my passion ever since I was a little girl. My mother loves sharing stories about my pretend classrooms and coaxing my younger brother and sister into listening to my science lesson. I've always been fascinated with the way children learn and what makes students reach the point of success, especially since I was a student who struggled at times in school. I believe my struggles help me to be the teacher I am today; one that cares for all kids and tries to reach every single student on their level. This is my ninth year teaching and I'm thrilled to be an Oak Grove Otter!
I've lived in North Carolina for the last 4 years and I love it here. I'm a Michigan Native and I enjoy the snow! However, I think the beach is my new favorite. I went to Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!) where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a double minor in Early Childhood Education and Language Arts for upper elementary. My first year teaching I was a middle school language arts teacher in Michigan, then I moved to 5th grade, and then to 8th grade for 2 years. When I moved to North Carolina, I worked in Wake County for 3 years in 4th grade at Creech Road Elementary. This will be my second year at Oak Grove as an Otter. Middle school is awesome to teach but I'm enjoying upper elementary- it's just so much fun!
My husband and I love to do stuff outdoors with our son Jacob. He was born March 15th, 2017 and is such a happy guy! We take walks, read lots of books, and explore the triangle. We are always looking for a new adventure!
