• Eligibility

    All first-time 7th and 9th grade students are granted eligibility for sports participation during the first semester. All other student-athletes will need to meet both North Carolina High School Athletic Association and Wake County Public School System eligibility requirements.     Age Requirements

    Cannot participate if he turns 15 before August 31, 2019.

    Attendance Requirements

    • Must be present the entire day in order to participate in activities or practices.
    • Must not have more than 14 total absences in the prior semester.

    Academic Requirements

    • Must meet promotional requirements.
    • Must earn a passing grade (D or better) in7 of 8 courses. Passing grades must be attained in Language Arts and Mathematics, and at least half of all remaining courses must be passed.

    • Must earn passing grades in 6 subjects during each semester in order to be eligible for participation the succeeding semester.
    • Cumulative overall grade point average of 1.5 or above.

    Enrollment Requirements

    • Must be enrolled no later than the 15th day of the present semester and in regular attendance.

    Medical Examinations Requirements

    • Must receive a medical examination once every 365 days by a licensed medical physician or physician’s assistant or family practitioner in the United States.
    • Must read the Concussion Information Sheet, initial, and sign the Student-Athlete & Parent/Legal Custodian Concussion Statement once every 365 days. (Parent/Guardian and Athlete)

     

    • Must receive a medical examination once every 365 days by a licensed medical physician or physician’s assistant or family practitioner in the United States.

    Insurance Requirements

    • Must purchase school insurance or provide proof of insurance coverage.

    Participation Requirements

    • Must have completed and signed Middle School Athletic Participation Form prior to the first tryout/practice date.
    • Cannot participate (practice or play) in ineligible.
    • May not participate (practice or play) for the day or days of a suspension.
    • Must practice a total of 6 days before playing in a game.
    • Must practice a total of 9 days before playing a football game.
    • If school is not in session, there will be no games or practices. There are no Saturday, holiday, or vacation day activities.

     

    • May not play, sit on the bench, or practice if ineligible.
    • Must have completed and signed High School Athletic Participation Form prior to the first tryout/practice date.
    • Cannot participate (practice or play) in ineligible.
