    Hello PUE Families,

We have had an amazing two weeks of our Scholastic Book Fair! Thank you to all of our families and students who purchased books. A portion of purchases go directly back into our school through the PTA, so we appreciate the support

In conjunction with the Book Fair and National Read Across America Day, PUE's PTA is VERY excited to announce that we will be hosting Adam Gidwitz, Newbery award-winning children's book author and storyteller, on March 4th! Students may already be familiar with Adam's work from the Netflix limited series, "A Tale Dark & Grimm," and the Pinna original podcast, "Grimm, Grimmer, Grimmest."

Adam will present the Unicorn Rescue Society series for our Kindergarten through 2nd graders at 1pm, and will present Max in the House of Spies - his new release! - for our 3rd through 5th graders at 2:30pm. Track 2 students are welcome to come join their classmates even though they'll be tracked out. Families can purchase signed copies of Adam's books online by March 3rd at noon - and you'll get a 10% discount at checkout! Books will be delivered to classrooms the day after the presentations. Note: we will not be selling books at school; they must be purchased online in advance. Here is the link to purchase: https://www.flyleafbooks.com/pues-gidwitz-2024

    Hello PUE Families,

We have had a very busy week at PUE! Welcome back to track 3 and we hope that track 2 has an amazing trackout.

Our book fair continues to be a hit. All students will have the opportunity to get a "preview" day with Ms. Fry and then another day to actually go and purchase books. We also would like to encourage our parents track 1 and 3 parents to come out on 2/21 for our Paws Up for Donuts and early-hours book fair event. Doors open at 7:45am, but we will not admit any additional families after 8:30 so that we can finish sales before the beginning of the school day. Donuts, muffins, and other breakfast items will be sold by our cafeteria staff while supplies last. Our cafeteria accepts check or cash, but will not accept larger bills than $20. Smaller bills are much appreciated!

As the book fair continues, we also highly encourage parents to consider using the eWallet for your students book fair purchases. This makes transactions easier, and also prevents issues that arise when students bring large amounts of cash to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/pleasantunionelemschool.

    Hello PUE Families,

A big thanks to all the families that came out for our Winter Play Date at Pro 3:5 last Sunday! The kids had a great time and we're thrilled it was such a successful event.

With Valentine's Day approaching, a friendly reminder that we do not accept flower, balloon, or gift deliveries for students at during the school day. We appreciate your support in this matter.

We are excited to begin our Book Fair next Monday. All students will have the opportunity to get a "preview" day with Ms. Fry and then another day to actually go and purchase books. We also would like to encourage our parents to come out on 2/14 or 2/21 for our Paws Up for Donuts and early-hours book fair events. Tracks 2 & 4 families are welcome on 2/14 and Track 1 & 3 are welcome on 2/21. Doors open at 7:45am, but we will not admit any additional families after 8:30 so that we can finish sales before the beginning of the school day. Donuts and other breakfast items will be sold by our cafeteria staff. Our cafeteria accepts check or cash, but will not accept larger bills than $20. Smaller bills are much appreciated!

Lastly, next week is our Bus Driver Appreciation Week. If your child rides a bus, please have them take time to say, "Thank you," to their driver. As everyone knows, the bus driver shortage continues to present problems for our county, so every ounce of appreciation we can give our drivers is helpful.

  • PUE Friday Newsletter 1/12/24

Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 1/12/2024 4:00:00 PM

    Hello PUE Families,

We hope everyone remained safe during the inclement weather this past week. Even with an early release, we had a busy week at PUE. A reminder that this weekend is a 3-day weekend; Monday, 1/15 is Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, so there is no school for staff and students.

When sending transportation changes, please email your child's teacher directly, preferably before noon the day of the change. If you have not heard back from them by 2pm, please call the front office. We have had several instances of parents emailing teachers or office staff when they were out, so no one knew to alert the child of the change. Additionally, please do not text children with transportation changes; an employee at the school needs the message in writing or to talk to the parent directly.

We have several after-school programs that are being offered for the 2nd semester. These include (so far) tennis lessons, Girls on the Run, and Kidz Art. If any of these are of interest to your child, please see the information in the newsletter for registration information.

  • PUE Friday Newsletter 12/15/23

Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 12/15/2023 4:00:00 PM

    Hello PUE Families,

Welcome to the final Friday newsletter for 2023! It's so hard to believe that we've made it halfway through the school year already. There will not be a newsletter next week due to the shortened week.

Students and staff will only be in school Monday through Thursday. For tracks 1, 2, and 3, we will see you all on Wednesday, 1/3/24. Track 4, we hope you enjoy your trackout and we will see you on 1/25/24.

Even though we only have 4 days left before winter break, we ask that parents keep a close eye on their children for any symptoms such as fevers, nausea, and/or stomach issues. We have had a very big uptick in sickness in the last few days. Children should not return to school from an illness unless they have been fever/symptom free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. This greatly helps reduce the spread of illness between students and staff.

A couple of highlights in this newsletter and the upcoming week:

Please make sure to read through for more details and additional items. I hope everyone has a great weekend and for those that celebrate I hope you have a great last night of Hanukkah and a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate on the 25th.
