PUE Friday Newsletter 3/24/23
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 3/24/2023 4:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
Happy Friday and happy track-out day for Track 4. We hope you have an amazing break and come back ready to knock out the rest of the school year. Track 1, we look forward to having you back on campus Monday, 3/27.
A reminder that Field Day this year has been switched to days in April rather than May/June. There is information in the newsletter about the dates, as well as a signup for volunteers. This is always a lot of fun, and a great opportunity for parents to come out and have some fun with their kids.
Lastly, today is the deadline for any additional SSA requests from parents on Tr. 2, 3, or 4. No requests can be considered past today. Please see the newsletter for more information.

PUE Friday Newsletter 3/10/23
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 3/10/2023 4:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
I hope everyone has had an awesome week. I want to start by giving a huge shoutout to our amazing PTA for organizing and staffing our Book Fair these past two weeks. Thank you to every single one of our parent volunteers who came in to help lots of excited students find some books that they love.
I also want to thank all of the volunteers that were in the Art Room this week. Every student got to work on a piece of a mural with our visiting artists. We look forward to unveiling the mural later this year once it is finalized.
Lastly, next week is Bus Driver Appreciation Week. If you see them, make sure to say thank you to a bus driver. As you know, the county is struggling to find and retain bus drivers, so we want to make sure we celebrate those that are here and doing this tough job everyday.

PUE Friday Newsletter 3/3/23
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 3/3/2023 4:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
Happy Friday! The week has quickly flown by, and we are already in March! Track 1 will trackout on Tuesday, 3/7. We look forward to having Track 2 back on Wednesday, 3/8 and hope that Track 1 has a relaxing trackout.
If your child hasn't come home yet to talk about how amazing our book fair is, they will soon. Our PTA has done an awesome job of preparing and staffing our book fair. We cannot thank the many parent volunteers that we have had this week come in to help run the fair. Your child should have brought home a preview of available books that you can review together. Every class will have an opportunity prior to the fair ending next Friday to attend and make purchases at the book fair. While cash is accepted, we encourage you to create an eWallet account (Create an eWallet here) to limit the amount of cash that your child has to carry around. Also, make sure to read all the info in the PTA section of the newsletter about the book fair.
We also have visitors in our art class this upcoming week. Thanks to our PTA, we are hosting two guest artists that will help every student in the school contribute to the creation of a global mural that we will place in the atrium once it is complete.
Lastly, best of luck to our Odyssey of the Mind team that will compete on Saturday at Wakefield HS. We know our team is going to do amazing and represent PUE well!

PUE Friday Newsletter 2/17/23
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 2/17/2023 4:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
Happy Friday! We were happy to welcome back Track 3 from their trackout this week and hope that Track 2 has a relaxing break. Thank you to all parents and students who came out to our PTAs Valentines Dance Last Friday. We had a great turnout and everyone had a lot of fun!
Even if your child doesn't have her as a teacher, we are excited that our very own Cassie Sigmon has been named a semi-finalist for WCPSS Teacher of the Year. This means that out of the almost 200 schools and their individual Teachers of the Year, Ms. Sigmon has made it to the top 20! This is such a huge honor for Ms. Sigmon; we are lucky to have her here at PUE. If you see her around, make sure to say congratulations!
Finally, we are beginning the planning process for the 2023-2024 school year. Please take a minute to complete this quick survey (Click on this link) regarding whether you intend for your child to continue at PUE next year, if you have not done so already. This is purely a survey to determine estimates for numbers; we will do track signups later in the spring.

PUE Friday Newsletter 2/3/23
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 2/3/2023 4:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
And just like that we've blinked and January is over. It has been a great start to the 2023 year so far with lots more fun to look forward to in the coming months. Our biggest event coming up next Friday is the Valentine's Dance on 2/10 from 6pm-8pm. Advance tickets can be purchased here. Parents and teachers/staff have free entry. This is not a drop-off event so parents please stay to assist in chaperoning. We are also encouraging families to carpool where possible to help with the limited parking that we have here. Please make sure when you park that you do not block any exits or entrances. We look forward to all of the fun!
Finally, it's that time of the year with lots of illness. Please remember that students should not return to school unless they have been fever free for at least 24 hours without medication. This greatly helps reduce the spread of illness, which affects both students and teachers. We appreciate your support.
