PUE Friday Newsletter 3/8/24
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 3/8/2024 4:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
Happy Friday and happy track-out day for Track 1. They have finished their 3rd 9 weeks and have earned a well-deserved trackout. We welcome back track 2 on Monday, 3/11.
A big thank you to our PTA for sponsoring the author visit this past week. Adam Gidwitz was an amazing presenter and our students really enjoyed hearing his story-telling. Please check out one of his books in our Media Center or if you want a signed copy, Flyleaf Books still has some for sale.
Also, a HUGE congratulations to our PUE Chorus Club for participating in the WCPSS Pieces of Gold performance this past Wednesday evening at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium! To perform, our chorus had to compete against many other schools and made the cut! Only 21 schools out of WCPSS' 200 schools get to participate, so it is a big honor. Our students did amazing and looked great! And thank you to Ms. Depasquale for leading our music program here so effectively. We are lucky to have such a great arts program here at PUE!

In conjunction with the Book Fair and National Read Across America Day, PUE's PTA is VERY excited to announce that we will be hosting Adam Gidwitz, Newbery award-winning children's book author and storyteller, on March 4th! Adam will present the Unicorn Rescue Society series for our Kindergarten through 2nd graders at 1pm, and will present Max in the House of Spies - his new release! - for our 3rd through 5th graders at 2:30pm. PUE Friday Newsletter 2/16/24
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 2/16/2024 5:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
We have had a very busy week at PUE! Welcome back to track 3 and we hope that track 2 has an amazing trackout.
Our book fair continues to be a hit. All students will have the opportunity to get a "preview" day with Ms. Fry and then another day to actually go and purchase books. We also would like to encourage our parents track 1 and 3 parents to come out on 2/21 for our Paws Up for Donuts and early-hours book fair event. Doors open at 7:45am, but we will not admit any additional families after 8:30 so that we can finish sales before the beginning of the school day. Donuts, muffins, and other breakfast items will be sold by our cafeteria staff while supplies last. Our cafeteria accepts check or cash, but will not accept larger bills than $20. Smaller bills are much appreciated!
As the book fair continues, we also highly encourage parents to consider using the eWallet for your students book fair purchases. This makes transactions easier, and also prevents issues that arise when students bring large amounts of cash to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/pleasantunionelemschool.

PUE Friday Newsletter 1/12/24
Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 1/12/2024 4:00:00 PMHello PUE Families,
We hope everyone remained safe during the inclement weather this past week. Even with an early release, we had a busy week at PUE. A reminder that this weekend is a 3-day weekend; Monday, 1/15 is Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, so there is no school for staff and students.
When sending transportation changes, please email your child's teacher directly, preferably before noon the day of the change. If you have not heard back from them by 2pm, please call the front office. We have had several instances of parents emailing teachers or office staff when they were out, so no one knew to alert the child of the change. Additionally, please do not text children with transportation changes; an employee at the school needs the message in writing or to talk to the parent directly.
We have several after-school programs that are being offered for the 2nd semester. These include (so far) tennis lessons, Girls on the Run, and Kidz Art. If any of these are of interest to your child, please see the information in the newsletter for registration information.
