    Hello PUE Families,

Thank you to all of our families that came out to support Panther Palooza this past Saturday. A great time was had and the weather cooperated the entire day!

A reminder that there is no school on Monday, 5/27 in recognition of Memorial Day.

Great job Track 1 students for pushing hard on your EOG tests! We know you did PUE proud. Only 6 more days until track out!

Lastly, don't forget to checkout our 2024 PUE Talent Show! 24 students submitted videos of their talents, and they should definitely be Proud Panthers. It is always amazing to see what hidden skills many of our students have and have a chance to see them in action.

A couple of highlights in this newsletter and the upcoming week:

Please make sure to read through for more details and additional items. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Hello PUE Families,

We have some big happenings over the next week. First, End-of-Grade testing begins next Tuesday 5/21 for grades 3-5 on Track 1 only. Make sure that your child gets a good night sleep and has had a healthy, filling breakfast each day so that we can ensure your child is able to show all that they have learned this year.

We are excited about our Panther Palooza hosted by our PTA tomorrow, 5/18 from 11am-3pm. There will be food trucks, raffles, games, inflatables, dunk tank and several other fun activities. The weather looks like it might be wet, so we have moved most activities inside or under awnings. A couple of guidelines for this event:

    • Parents must remain with their student at the event. Please do not drop-off students.
    • Parking is limited to the main parking lot and along the road. Do not park in fire lanes or the side parking lot near the bus loop (this is for staff and vendor parking only).
    • Please monitor your child during the event and do not enter classrooms.
    • Some activities are free and some require tickets, which can be pre-purchased (until 8pm tonight) or at the event. We also have a student-run market which is cash only; small bills preferred.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the event!

Lastly, good luck to our Girls on the Run Team! They will be doing their 5K tomorrow morning. We know they are going to do great after all of their training these past few months.

    Hello PUE Families,

Thank you to all of our wonderful families for celebrating our wonderful teachers this past week! Our teachers pour their heart and soul into their classrooms everyday, so all of the appreciation that flowed into our school this week has been amazing to watch. Please keep the love going for our Track 3 teaches as they track-in on Tuesday, 5/14.

An important reminder that on Monday, 5/13, only Tracks 1 and 4 are in school. Track 2 and Track 3 will be tracked out, with Track 3 returning to us on Tuesday, 5/14. We wish track 2 a very happy track-out!

Also on Tuesday, 5/14, there is a run-off primary election and we are a polling site. School will be in-session, but please be cognizant that carpool will likely run a little slower that day both in the morning and afternoon. Please be careful coming through the parking lot as voters will be coming in and out throughout the day.

WCPSS has begun its annual survey of parents about each school. We would greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete this survey about PUE. Your feedback gives us direct feedback on how we can improve our program, as well as allowing us to celebrate what is going well. Next Friday, 5/17 is the last day the survey will be open.

    Hello PUE Families,

WCPSS has begun its annual survey of parents about each school. We would greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete this survey about PUE. Your feedback gives us direct feedback on how we can improve our program, as well as allowing us to celebrate what is going well.

Teacher appreciation starts Monday! The PTA will celebrate our awesome teachers every day with a different epic theme. Here are some fun ways students can show gratitude to our terrific teachers.

Monday, 5/6 : Card- show them how much you care with kind words!

Tuesday, 5/7 : Flowers- brighten their day handmade flowers, a drawing, flowers from your garden, or a beautiful bouquet.

Wednesday, 5/8 : Specials Teachers Day- remember to recognize our spectacular specialists, too!

Thursday, 5/9 : Gift card- give a treat to their favorite store or restaurant.

Friday 5/10 : Supply- help stock their classroom with pencils, markers, scissors, tissues or check their wishlists.

There is no act of kindness too big or too small! Thank you for helping us show PUE teachers how much we value them!

As we approach the end of the year, our 5th graders are preparing for their promotion ceremonies in June. Our 5th grade classes and PTA would appreciate a few extra parents to assist in the planning of the events. Reach out to Faye at collaborationvp@puepta.com to volunteer.

Happy Friday! We have had a great week back with Track 4. Thank you to all the volunteers who came out for our Field Day for Tr. 2/4. It was a little cool, but students had a great time getting wet, playing games, and winning sack races!

Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 4/5/2024 4:00:00 PM

    Hello PUE Families,

Happy Friday and welcome back track 1! We have enjoyed having you back in the building.  As an FYI, track assignments will be emailed out later tonight for rising 1st-5th graders.  While we always try to maintain students on the same track or honor track request changes, tracks are not guaranteed from year to year due to the K-3 class size mandates, PUE’s current enrollment numbers, and teacher allotments.

Field Day 2024 is coming soon! Tracks 1 and 3 will be on 4/17 and Tracks 2 and 4 will be on 4/23. Please see the newsletter for more information on how you can volunteer or donate to help make this another successful Field Day for our Panthers.

Kindergarten enrollment for the 24-25 school year is in full swing. If you have a neighbor, friend, or a younger sibling that will be 5 years old by August 31st 2024, they are eligible to enroll for kindergarten. Please encourage them to start the process now so we know how many new Panthers we will have next school year.

The PUE PTA is very excited to announce the first ever Pleasant Union Elementary Student Global Market. We know you all are creative, smart, and full of awesome ideas. As future global leaders in a global economy, we’d love to see you show off your amazing skills during Pantherpalooza!

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, we're turning the PUE gym into a bustling marketplace just for you! If you've got something special to sell, this is your chance to shine! But because we've only got so much space, you'll need to apply. Don't worry, though—our PUE Global Committee, made up of teachers and staff, will help pick the lucky sellers. Applications can be found here for our 2nd-5th graders. The deadline has been extend to 4/24.
