• PUE Friday Newsletter 5/16/25

Posted by Bryan Tunstall on 5/16/2025 4:00:00 PM

    Hello PUE Families,

Happy Friday! We have a lot of announcements this week, so make sure to read through the newsletter so that you don't miss anything.

First, a HUGE thank you to our wonderful parents and students who came out for our PUE Clean-up Day last Saturday. We made a lot of progress in clearing rogue shrubs, weeding flower beds, and clearing debris and trash. Thank you for helping make our campus sparkle!

Next week, End-of-Grade (EOGs) state testing begins for Track 1 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Please make sure that your student gets a good night's rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and is on time during these days. Students who are absent will have an opportunity to make-up missed EOGs later in the week. We know our Track 1 students are going to do a great job of showing everything they know!

Tomorrow is our 2025 Panther Palooza from 11am-3pm. This fun-filled event will feature the Student Global Market, games, local businesses, and—new this year—grade-level classroom games! One of the best parts: 100% of the tickets collected at each grade-level game will go directly back to that classroom or grade to support teachers and help cover classroom needs. We’re also thrilled to offer an amazing selection of raffle prizes generously donated by many of our local business partners. Check out the raffle prizes here. There will also be opportunities to try and dunk me, Mr. Stern or Ms. Fry in the dunking booth this year. Carpooling is encouraged as parking is always limited with big events. Please do not park in the lot beside the bus loop; that will be for staff and vendor parking only. Bring small bills for shopping at the Student Global Market and food trucks. This is not a drop off event, students must be accompanied by an adult.

Yesterday, we had our annual Science Fair. Thank you to our volunteer parents who organized this event, Ms. Laura Stafford and Rebecca Olsen! Our participating students had some great experiments that they conducted. Congratulations to our winners:

    1st- Emily Knoll

    3 Way Tie for 2nd

    2nd- Eliana Harrell

    2nd- Charlie Dragstedt

    2nd- Emerson Vereen

    4th and 5th Grade Winners

    1st- Margaret Edmunds

    2nd- Jocelyn Foster

    Hello PUE Families,

Happy Friday PUE Families. Don't forget that Tracks 1 and 3 only have a makeup day tomorrow, Saturday 4/5. School begins on at 9:15am and dismissal begins at 12:45pm. Breakfast will be available like normal, but lunch will not be served. Please plan on sending in a snack with your child.

Next Thursday is our first Field Day for the school year for tracks 1 and 3. If the weather does not cooperate, the rain date is tentatively set for 4/16. If need to reschedule, we will notify tracks 1 and 3 by Wednesday evening. Our Field Days have been a huge success in large part due to all the parent volunteers that come out to support the event. We are asking for your help again this year to have another successful event. We need volunteers to help work the stations for the students as well as there are several donations we are looking for. Any help you can provide is always greatly appreciated. See below in the newsletter for the dates, volunteer sign-up, and field day wishlist items. If you have any questions, please email Ben Stern (PE Teacher) directly at bsstern@wcpss.net.

Finally, I know many families are anxious to have their track assignment for next year. We are working on finalizing tracks, and hope to have them sent by the end of the month. If your child's track changes, and vacations have already been booked, I will work with your family on the missed days.
