Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Summer Friday Storm Report.

 

Well, we are getting very close to the end of summer for our Storm families.  Fall sports have started, parking and lunch pass distribution has begun for our juniors and seniors and I hear the marching band camp music echoing down the halls here at school.  I have a few quick updates for our students and families.

 

• Student class schedules for the 25-26 school year will be finalized on August 13th. A schedule review request form will be posted on the Willow Spring High School website on the 13th and will close on August 20th. The form will reopen on the first day of school. Please note that schedule adjustments will only be made if a student has a "hole" in their schedule, if they are missing a prerequisite, or if they would like to increase rigor in a core class. Elective change requests will be denied. Students should monitor their WCPSS student email for notifications about schedule adjustment requests.

 

• Score big savings with the Storm Season Game Pass. Your individual or family pass gets you full access to all Storm home games all school year. Passes are discounted through 8/15. • Parking distribution has started and there are plenty of Senior and Junior parking spots still available.  Our staff will be finishing our before-school distribution on August 12th, the 13th, and the 18th from 8:00 - 11:30 in the main office.  

 

• We are looking forward to meeting our Class of 2029 on Thursday during our new student orientation program.  Details and the schedule for the event are posted in the Storm New section of our website.  There is a parent information session planned for both the morning and afternoon sessions in the auditorium as a part of the orientation program.

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with another summer Storm Update.  

 

• I am excited to announce that SchoolCash Online is working with Infinite Campus.  All student dues, off-campus lunch passes and parking fees can now be paid on-line.  Families should have received an email from the SchoolCash system letting them know that they can now access the online payment option.  Students planning to get off campus lunch passes and parking passes should plan to pay their student dues and other fees online in advance of picking up your passes next week.

 

I have a number of announcements from our PTSA and Storm Booster Club in preparation for our opening in just a few weeks.

• Rising Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity to win a free parking spot of their choice! The PTSA is partnering with school administration to grant one lucky winner the parking spot of their dreams for the 2025-26 school year. Tickets are 1 for $20 or 5 for $90, and may be purchased in the online PTSA spirit shop until 11:59pm on July 31st. All entries will be placed into an app and the winner selected at random. The winner will be notified via email and must respond within 5 days. The winner's class dues/fees must be paid in full before they are able to receive their parking spot prize! Good luck!

 

• Our PTSA membership drive will begin August 1st! It is our hope that you will join or renew your membership and partner with us in making a real difference in the lives of students and staff. Remember, PTSA membership doesn’t mean that you are automatically signing up to volunteer – but we welcome you to do both!  Membership is simply a tangible way to show your support for the school, and we are able to utilize those funds to implement the various programs that benefit the total student body. PTSA is for everyone! Memberships will be available for purchase/renewal in our online Spirit Shop.

 

• We need volunteers for a few more programs and activities, including a few Senior Class events that supplement the school’s Senior plans. If you’re interested in becoming more involved with the Storm community, please take a look at our PTSA volunteer interest form. We’d love to hear from you!

Hello, this is Wade Martin from WSHS with an update for our Junior and Senior families about parking and off campus lunch passes.  

 

We have posted the links for the questionnaires and applications for our 25-26 Parking and Lunch Passes. The links are in the Storm News section under Parking & Lunch Passes for 25-26. At this time, the online payment systems are not connected with Infinite Campus so we are planning for Cash and Check payments.  All in-person transactions will take place per the schedules posted on our website.  Should the online payment system become available prior to our scheduled dates, we will let you all know so that you can pay in advance and speed up the process on the day of in-person pass pickups.

Hello, this is Wade Martin, the principal at WSHS calling with a Summer Storm Report.  I sincerely hope all of our WS families are having a great summer break so far.  I have just a few summer updates to share with our families at this time.

 

• We appreciate your patience as we are still working through the State’s transition to Infinite Campus from PowerSchools.  All systems are not currently working or turned on for us. Our staff is working diligently to get up to speed and be ready for the opening of school.  We have created an Infinite Campus Transition link on our website under Storm News where we will continue to add updates as they come in from the State and district.  Please do not call, email or stop in to request student schedule changes.  Schedules will not be finalized until mid-August.  We will post the required form to request schedule adjustments when schedules are finalized.  No requests will be honored at this time.

 

• It was our plan to open parking applications for Juniors and Seniors after July 15th.  We are still waiting on the new student databases in Infinite Campus to connect with the SchoolCash Online payment system.  Once we are given the green light that the systems are synced, we will post the applications on the header of our school website along with the off campus lunch pass application.

 

• I would like to officially welcome all of our Class of 2029 families to WSHS!  We are very excited to meet our incoming freshman class.  We will be hosting our Freshman and new student orientation on Thursday, August 14th.  Once the full agenda for the day is finalized we will post the schedule on our website.  We hope all of our new Storm 9th graders can make it on that day.

 

• I will be sending out messages like this one throughout the remainder of the summer but I strongly encourage our families and students to check our school website for information and updates.  We already have a lot of events on the school calendar and updates in our Storm News.

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from WSHS with the Friday Storm Report.

 

Well, we have almost made it through the 2024-25 school year.  All that’s left are our Semester 2 Final Exams.  Please be sure to read the important information about exams linked at the top of our school website.  Just a reminder that students may not be checked out during the morning testing window of time. 

 

A quick note to our Senior Families - Graduation tickets will be distributed to students on Friday, June 13th from 8:00 - 11:30 in the 1st floor cafeteria.  Tickets will only be distributed to students who have completed their HOT PINK Senior Check Out that was given to all seniors this past week at the Senior Meeting.   If a student cannot make it on Friday then students may pick up the tickets on Monday or Tuesday, June 16th or 17th in the front office between 7:30 am and 2:00 pm. This information was also emailed directly to all of our Seniors. Seniors who did not attend the Senior Meeting need to see Ms. Gates to get their Senior Check Out Sheet.

Hello, this is Wade Martin calling from Willow Spring HS with a Friday Storm Report!  We have a bunch of important events just around the corner.

 

• Next Tuesday, May 20th is our Rising 9th grade Athletic information event.  The event starts in the auditorium at 6:00.  We also have the May PTSA meeting happening in the media center starting at 6:30.

 

• On Wednesday, May 21 at 5:00 in our main gym we have our mandatory graduation rehearsal for all graduating seniors and juniors.  This event has been set and communicated with our seniors since the opening of school.  Participation is required.

 

• Following our graduation rehearsal on Wednesday, we will hold our Senior Awards Assembly in the main gym.  This event starts at 6:30.

 

• Lastly, for our senior families, Friday, May 30 is when we will host the Senior Car Parade from South Lakes Elementary School, our group Senior Cap & Gown Picture, our final senior meeting of the school year followed by the Senior Picnic for lunch and fun for our Class of 2025!

• The WSHS Parent Teacher Student Association - PTSA - is now accepting nominations for the 2025-26 PTSA Officers. If you have an interest in becoming more involved with the Willow Spring High School community, please take a look at the linked Nomination Form and consider submitting your info. The deadline is Friday, May 2nd and elections are at the PTSA General Membership Meeting on May 20th! 

 

• The WSHS PTSA presents the Create with Kindness event for 8th-12th grade students and their parents.  The event will be held at WSHS on April 28th starting at 5:30 in the cafe for pizza followed by the program at 6:15 in our auditorium.  The program facilitates an open interactive discussions about online experiences between teens and adults, creates a space for teen voices to be heard and valued as an important part of social media and safety discussions, equips families with practical information and resources to enhance online safety while sharing important safety features on TikTok, and encourage continued conversations for families to set positive digital boundaries together. Please see the posting on our website to register to attend this important PTSA sponsored event.

 

• I would like to encourage all of our families to participate in the Panorama Parent Survey that you have recently received from the school system.  The information from this survey is used by our School Improvement Team to find ways to better support our students, families and our school community.  Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.

We have been informed that some false information has been posted on social media regarding a policy change at school related to our tardy consequences.  I am contacting you to let you know that this information is false.  We are not assessing fees to students for being tardy to class or absent from school.  We are working with the WCPSS staff to find the source of this inaccurate information.  I want to encourage our families to rely on receiving updated official information from our school through my weekly principal messages and postings on our school website.  If you receive any information from social media that may not have been directly shared by the school, contact me with questions first before reposting as being true.

• On Thursday before break, students were given a copy of the courses that they selected for the 2025-2026 school year.  Please review these selections with your student and carefully read the important information on the back of the form.  There is a QR code that you can use to make any changes by April 10th.   This is the time for students and parents to carefully and thoughtfully choose the core and elective courses they want to take next school year.  After the April 10^th deadline, changes will not be honored for any electives.  

 

• Just a reminder that Willow Spring High School is excited to offer Category 5 Sports Camps this summer! These camps provide young athletes with the opportunity to train with high school coaches and athletes, build confidence, and develop skills in a fun and supportive environment. From soccer and basketball to cheer and football, there’s something for every future Storm athlete! Spots are limited, so sign up today! Be sure to check on the Willow Spring High School website under Athletics to get registered today!
