Weekly Message for 5-15-22

Posted by Andrew Livengood on 5/15/2022

Hello Pine Hollow Middle School community. This is your principal, Andrew Livengood, with the weekly message for May 15.

  • This Week: It’s a five-day week for students on Track 1, 3 & 4.
  • Into the Woods, Jr: Congratulations to everyone involved in the musical. It had been a long time since our last production and our students and staff did an awesome job!! I am so sorry for all the confusion around Friday night’s performance that had to be cancelled when WCPSS announced that all after school activities were cancelled. We originally planned to do a make-up show the following week and then realized later that afternoon/evening that not all of the cast would be in town that week. Thus, the decision to do a second show on Saturday. I am so sorry that not everyone who planned to attend Friday night was able to attend Saturday. I appreciate everyone’s understanding that we did the best we could given the challenging circumstances and timing.
  • Band Concert: The Spring concerts are Tuesday night. 6th grade at 6PM and 7th/8th grade at 7PM.
  • Chorus Concert: The Spring concert is Thursday night at 6PM.
  • Spring Dance: This Friday from after school until 6PM. Admission is $5 and students must bring a permission form signed by a parent to attend. This dance is for PHMS students only. Permission forms are attached to this week’s message and are also available on the school website. Any parent who would like to help with the dance needs to sign-up by clicking this link or the link below under the PTSA announcements. Any parent who can donate snacks and/or drinks for the dance, please click this link.
  • Carpool: Will be busier for the next couple of weeks now that all students are in the building. Please be patient and remember to stay in the right lane as you turn onto Leesville Church Road. The center lane must stay clear so that it can be used by those who need to turn left onto Leesville Road. Also, by keeping the middle lane open, it is easier for buses to get through to the back of the school to pick up bus riders. Please also allow folks to exit CVS so that they aren’t stuck there longer than necessary. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
    • Last week we saw the final games of the 2021-2022 Season.  It was awesome to be back on the field after being away for so long.   The softball team went 2-1 for the week finishing the season with an 8-3 record, 2ndplace in the Northern Conference. If you want to see one of the coolest hits, click the link to watch Avery take out her own number on the centerfield fence.  https://twitter.com/PineHollowAD/status/1524868415579734022
    • Wednesday is our Spring Athletic Banquet. We will be back to a pre-covid style of banquet.  We will begin at 6:30 in the cafeteria for a dinner, (please see the flyer to see what you are needed to bring).  We will announce out Athletes and Scholar Athletes of the year before breaking into teams for certificates and team awards.  I am very excited to return to this form of banquet.
    • ALL UNIFORMS SHOULD BE TURNED IN BY WEDNESDAY - Please bag uniforms with name on the bag. Please reach out to me if a uniform has been lost or damaged.
    • Parents, Thank you for all of your dedication this year and helping Pine Hollow have a successful season. Thank you for taking awesome photos and sharing with me to make our social media pages one of the best. Thank you for all that you do to support our student athletes.

We're hosting an after-school event on Wednesday, May 18 from 3:15-4:15pm in the PHMS Library and encourage parents or relatives to attend this event with their PHMS student to engage in activities related to the book. If so, I encourage you to nominate that person for our new Top Gun Staff Member of the Month award. There aren’t any firm rules or requirements to nominate someone for recognition. The point of this is to recognize a teacher or two each month who was nominated by a student or parent. The teacher(s) would be recognized in front of their peers at the next staff meeting. In order to nominate someone, just fill out this form and make sure to clearly explain why you think they are deserving of this recognition.
  • From the PTSA:
  • Have a great week, and remember, at Pine Hollow Middle School the sky is the limit!
