Weekly Message for 5-8-22

Posted by Andrew Livengood on 5/8/2022

Hello Pine Hollow Middle School community. This is your principal, Andrew Livengood, with the weekly message for May 8.

  • This Week: It’s a five-day week for students on Track 1&4. Track 3 returns on Wednesday.
  • Carpool: Just a reminder that carpool will be busier starting Wednesday as all students will be in the building. Please be patient and remember to stay in the right lane as you turn onto Leesville Church Road. The center lane must stay clear so that it can be used by those who need to turn left onto Leesville Road. Also, by keeping the middle lane open, it is easier for buses to get through to the back of the school to pick up bus riders. Please also allow folks to exit CVS so that they aren’t stuck there longer than necessary. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
  • Spring Dance: I can’t believe it’s been this long, but we will be having our first school dance in almost two years on Friday, May 20 from after school until 6PM. Admission is $5 and students must bring a permission form signed by a parent to attend. This dance is for PHMS students only. Permission forms are attached to this week’s message and are also available on the school website. Any parent who would like to help with the dance needs to sign-up by clicking this link or the link below under the PTSA announcements.
  • PHMS Community Reads Event: Join us for Make-and-Take Sun Catchers & Durian Fruit Tasting! We've organized several activities that are inspired by our Community Reads title this semester - A Wish in the Dark by Christina Soontornvat. We're hosting an after-school event on Wednesday, May 18 from 3:15-4:15pm in the PHMS Library and encourage parents or relatives to attend this event with their PHMS student to engage in activities related to the book. You do not need to have read the book to attend. RSVP here so we know to expect you. If you have any questions, please contact Kristen Ziller (library media specialist, kziller@wcpss.net), Mike Hutchinson (6th grade Social Studies teacher, jhutchinson@wcpss.net), or Cassie West (AIG, cwest4@wcpss.net). We look forward to seeing you!
  • From Our Athletic Director, Mr. Adams:

  • Teacher Recognition Program:  Is there a teacher or staff member you would like to celebrate for doing a terrific job? Has someone been consistently outstanding or maybe gone above-and-beyond recently for your student/family? If so, I encourage you to nominate that person for our new Top Gun Staff Member of the Month award. There aren’t any firm rules or requirements to nominate someone for recognition. The point of this is to recognize a teacher or two each month who was nominated by a student or parent. The teacher(s) would be recognized in front of their peers at the next staff meeting. In order to nominate someone, just fill out this form and make sure to clearly explain why you think they are deserving of this recognition.
  • From the PTSA:
  • Have a great week, and remember, at Pine Hollow Middle School the sky is the limit!
