Hello Pine Hollow Middle School community. This is your principal, Andrew Livengood, with the weekly message for May 1.

  • This Week: It’s a four-day week for students on Track 1&4. Tomorrow is a Teacher Workday. Track 3 is out until May 11.

  • PHMS Community Reads Event: Join us for Make-and-Take Sun Catchers & Durian Fruit Tasting! We've organized several activities that are inspired by our Community Reads title this semester - A Wish in the Dark by Christina Soontornvat. We're hosting an after-school event on Wednesday, May 18 from 3:15-4:15pm in the PHMS Library and encourage parents or relatives to attend this event with their PHMS student to engage in activities related to the book. You do not need to have read the book to attend. RSVP here so we know to expect you. If you have any questions, please contact Kristen Ziller (library media specialist, kziller@wcpss.net), Mike Hutchinson (6th grade Social Studies teacher, jhutchinson@wcpss.net), or Cassie West (AIG, cwest4@wcpss.net). We look forward to seeing you!
  • From Our Athletic Director, Mr. Adams:
    • Weather and umpires cancelled 50% of our games last week. We did see our softball team get a home win over Wakefield on Monday, and our Girls' Track team defeat Leesville. Boy's Track can finish on a high note with a win in the finale this week. Tuesday Soccer will host East Millbrook for their final home game. Wednesday will be quite busy as Soccer will play at Leesville, Track will be running at East Millbrook and Softball will be hosting West Millbrook.
    • Spring Athletic Banquet - May 18, 6:30 - Pine Hollow Cafeteria.  Details will be distributed this week

  • WCPSS District-Wide Family Survey: This is the last week to complete the WCPSS District Wide Family Survey. The window closes on Friday. This survey provides families the opportunity to provide valuable information and a high-quality data source for planning and School Improvement. The survey has been translated into various languages; Spanish, Arabic, French, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese in an effort to provide accessibility to families in Wake County Public Schools. The survey administration language can be chosen by families before taking the survey. Click here to complete the survey. All families are encouraged to complete it.

  • Teacher Recognition Program:  Is there a teacher or staff member you would like to celebrate for doing a terrific job? Has someone been consistently outstanding or maybe gone above-and-beyond recently for your student/family? If so, I encourage you to nominate that person for our new Top Gun Staff Member of the Month award. There aren’t any firm rules or requirements to nominate someone for recognition. The point of this is to recognize a teacher or two each month who was nominated by a student or parent. The teacher(s) would be recognized in front of their peers at the next staff meeting. In order to nominate someone, just fill out this form and make sure to clearly explain why you think they are deserving of this recognition.
