Weekly Message for 5-9-21

Posted by Andrew Livengood on 5/9/2021

Hello Pine Hollow Middle School community. This is your principal, Andrew Livengood, with the weekly message for May 9.

  • Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers and grandmothers!!!
  • This Week: This week is a five-day for all students.
  • Track Assignments: Parents of rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders received an email Friday afternoon from WCPSS notifying you that our school will return to having multiple tracks for the 2021-22 school year. We can now begin the process of assigning students to tracks. As a result of our desire to balance track sizes as much as possible across each grade level, we will be collapsing track 2 for the 2021-22 school year. Students previously on track 2 will be moved to one of the other three tracks. We are currently working with our feeder elementary schools to ensure our students are on the same track as any younger siblings. Having three tracks instead of four will help us use our limited resources more efficiently which will, in turn, benefit students. Just as soon as track assignments are available, I will notify you via email, the school website and text message. I understand the urgency of families knowing their assigned track, and we will get that information to you just as quickly as we possibly can. Thank you for your patience, understanding and support.

  • New Teacher Recognition Program: Is there a teacher or staff member you would like to celebrate for doing a terrific job? Has someone been consistently outstanding or maybe gone above-and-beyond recently for your student/family? If so, I encourage you to nominate that person for our new Top Gun Staff Member of the Month award. There aren’t any firm rules or requirements to nominate someone for recognition. The point of this is to recognize a teacher or two each month who was nominated by a student or parent. The teacher(s) would be recognized in front of their peers at the next staff meeting. In order to nominate someone, just fill out this form and make sure to clearly explain why you think they are deserving of this recognition.
  • Yearbooks:
    • Do you have a picture of your child’s virtual workspace or from the first day of school? We have come up with over 20 ideas for photos that you can submit from home to be included in the yearbook such as crazy quarantine hair, quarantine cuisine, pets taking over your workspace, or even your child’s personal bitmoji! The photos you submit would be in addition to the portrait picture your child will have taken at school. Please submit photos using this form
    • Go to yearbookordercenter.com to reserve your yearbook for only $40. Personalized name stamps can be added to your Yearbook for only $5. Also, 8th grades ads available starting at $25!
    • The last day to purchase a yearbook is 5/29.
    • Questions? Email Ms. Anderson (kanderson1@wcpss.net) or Mr. Tingley (jtingley@wcpss.net).
  • Have a great week and remember, at Pine Hollow Middle School the sky is the limit!
