NEWS OF THE WEEK:
From Our AIG Teacher
Hi Families! We are coming up on the window to nominate your child for our SSA, Single Subject Advancement, in Reading or Math. Students who are performing at least two grade levels or above in reading or math would be good nominations. Please talk to your child's classroom teacher to see if he/she would be a good candidate for this program. Students will be tested in April but we will need the permission form signed by March 24, 2023. Please contact Cammie Viverette cviverette@wcpss.net with questions.
REMINDERS:
5th Grade Families
In Tuesday folders this week, you received brief information regarding the middle school registration process. I have compiled a one-pager of FAQs and important links that are attached. If you have additional questions, we will be hosting a Coffee with the Counselor/Principal on 3/27 at 8:15 am. Additionally, please attend open houses for your upcoming middle school. This is where you will find specific information about classes, schedules, and other opportunities.

BES MARCH READING MADNESS
During the month of March, we are going to be celebrating our love of basketball and books through a March Madness challenge. We are encouraging all students to participate in this friendly challenge throughout the month. This is a great nightly activity for all ages.
Each night Monday-Friday we are asking students to read for 20-30 minutes with an adult, sibling, or friend. Once a student reads they need to put the number of minutes on the calendar provided and get an adult signature. Students will be working to earn prizes for themselves and their class. Recording minutes read on the weekend is also an option! Students are responsible for keeping up with their own reading log. They must have it signed to earn the prizes.
At school we will be completing a bracket book challenge to find out what our favorite books are at Briarcliff! We have also included a list of questions to help you talk with your student about the book/s they are reading at night
