Chromebooks Staying @ School Option

We have noticed this year that students are not taking their Chromebooks out of their bookbags at night and charging them. Since students do not need their devices at night we will be offering the option to leave their computers at school so that they are ready to be used each day. This has been working well in Kindergarten.

We have Chromebook charging carts available in each classroom to store the devices. We are working on getting parent volunteers to set up the carts.  This week, teachers are asking that every 1st through 5th-grade student bring their devices and chargers to school tomorrow so we can start to set up the carts.

Students will leave their chargers at school in the carts and if they want to take home their device they will charge it in between subjects at school. The only time it will not be a choice to take home a device is during certain testing windows.  Leaving the device at school is a great way to help students disconnect from technology while at home.

Coffee with Mrs. Nelson-

DATE CHANGE: January 31st from 8:15-8:45

Mrs. Nelson needed to change the date due to a meeting off-campus with other principals.

Please stop by to meet with Mrs. Nelson on January 31st  to answer any questions or just visit from 8:15-8:45 in the media center. We can talk about anything on your mind. Some parents have asked to talk about the 5th to 6th, but everyone is welcome. We will be doing a more detailed middle school session in the spring.

AIG 4th and 5th Grade Testing Opportunity

Hi Briarcliff Families, the window for AIG testing is opening up in January of 2023.  As a parent, you can nominate your child to our School-Based Committee for Gifted Education.  We look at prior CogAT, IOWA, and EOG scores, report card grades, and teacher checklists.  The score to qualify for AIG is 95% or higher on these tests.  Students will miss five mornings of instruction to take the test.  Please email Cammie Viverette at cviverette@wcpss.net for questions or thoughts!
