January 4th-15th-ALL Students Remote
The Wake County Board of Education moved all students to remote instruction from January 4-15. This decision was made due to the impact of an increased number of COVID-19 infections in Wake County.
Health experts continue to advise that in-person learning is not a significant contributor to the spread of COVID-19. Our own district’s data shows very limited spread of COVID-19 in our schools, a testament to the incredible effort of our teachers and staff in creating and maintaining safe environments for our students.
However, our staff is not immune to the rapid spread of the virus in the greater community. When cases increase, so do the number of our employees who are required to quarantine as a result.
Cohorts and Teachers
If families have made changes to in person learning or virtual academy it will mean that we need to adjust teachers to accommodate those changes. We will not be making any changes until it is determined that we are in person. Once we are sure of the date we will then share any changes that have been made. It is very likely that you will have a different teacher if you changed from in person to VA or vice versa.
We are also being asked to make sure every in person student is assigned a cohort. We are making adjustments to chorts and will send them out once we finish. We do not know if they will be using Plan B, we were just asked to make sure we have each student assigned to a cohort.
Bulldog Books to Go
Bulldog books to go will be paused until Monday, January 25th. Please watch for more information in the coming weeks.
Math Kits
Math Kits have been sent home with all students. These must be returned at the end of the year in addition to computers and books. Thanks for your help in keeping up with these materials.
Dreambox Challenge
WCPSS has provided guidelines that teachers allow students to work on Dreambox daily to complete 1-2 lessons of work 20 minutes per day. Briarcliff students in K-5 should be using Dreambox everyday as part of their daily math instruction both in person and durning remote learning.
To encourage students we have created the Winter Dreambox Challenge. If as a school we complete 15,000 lessons from January 4th-February 4th the student with the most lessons completed at each grade level will get to PIE ADMINISTRATION in the FACE!!! The class with the most lessons completed at each grade level will get a Social Hour with their classmates.
Have your student check out this video of Mrs. Nelson.
