8-9-21 Harris Creek Family Message

Good Evening Harris Creek Family,

I hope this email finds you happy and healthy. Please take some time to read the information below to stay current on events and updates from Harris Creek staff and PTA.

Please continue to practice your patience while going through the carpool line in the morning and afternoon. Our Track 4 Kindergarteners and PreK students have just started school and are learning the routines and carpool numbers for the first time. Dismissal will be a little slower while we closely monitor all students as they go to carpool and buses.

Along with Covid, there are other sicknesses going around and students are getting sick. Please be mindful that we must continue to follow Covid protocols. All students experiencing a symptom of illness will need to leave school. If we have to send your child home, we will provide you with guidance on returning. We are continuing to see an increase of students testing positive for Covid throughout the district. We are continuing to enforce mask mandates throughout the school to minimize the spread of germs.

Young Carpoolers

Please practice with your children on how to buckle and unbuckle their seatbelts so they can become independent in the carpool line. We want them to remain safe, while we are able to continue to keep carpool running. In the afternoon, if your child needs buckling assistance, you can turn on your 4-way flashers and slowly pull up to the handicapped spaces on the right to get out and buckle them in before pulling out of the parking lot. We have a couple hundred cars to get through the line and we want to be sure to do it safely.

Additionally, please make sure students are entering and exiting for carpool on the passenger side for their safety. We do not want anyone to get hit walking around their cars or getting out of their cars.

Input on New Principal

You are invited to give input on what you'd like to see in the new principal of Harris Creek Elementary. You can do this in 2 ways. Come to the school on Thursday, August 26 at 6pm to meet with Dr. Savage, Eastern Area Superintendent, to provide your feedback in person. If you can't make that evening, please consider providing your input through this survey.

New Harris Creek Principal Survey

My start date at Durant Road Elementary is still To Be Determined, however, I've been given some guidance that I will most likely stay at Harris Creek through September.
