1-17-21 Harris Creek Family Message
Happy New Year Harris Creek Family,
As we finish up our last week of Track Out, I wanted to send you some updates and information to prepare for the start of Quarter 3 on Monday, January 25.
All Students Remote until Mid-February
As you've probably heard by now, the WCPSS School Board voted to keep all students learning remotely until at least mid-February due to the high numbers of positive Covid-19 cases in the state and county.
New Teachers
All students that were changing teachers, or students new to our school, will begin with their new teacher on Monday, January 25 online. If you are changing teachers, you should have already been informed by your current teacher of who the new teacher will be. Your new teacher will reach out this week to introduce him or herself to you and share any necessary information with you.
Supply Pick Up
Since all students will start online, all families will need to come to school this Thursday or Friday to pick up supply bags for Quarter 3. Please return any books that you have from Quarters 1 & 2 when you pick up Quarter 3 supplies. The grade level teachers will be outside handing out supplies during their scheduled times below. If you need to come at a different time than listed for your grade level, you can, but you will not see your grade level teachers.

Schedule Changes
Be on the look out for an email from your student's teacher with updated schedule changes. We have finalized a Virtual Academy schedule that will remain consistant for the whole 2nd semester. Our In Person students will have a schedule they will follow while they are learning remotely and will have a different schedule they will follow once they come back into the building.
Phone Number, Email, or Address Changes
Please be sure that you update any phone numbers, emails, or addresses with the Harris Creek office if you've had any changes. We need this information to stay current so we can be sure to contact you with necessary information.
Report Cards
Quarter 2 Report Cards will come home on Monday, February 1.
Teaching Tolerance
At Harris Creek Elementary, we believe that all students have the right to quality education and all students need to be celebrated for who they are and where they come from. A resource that I use with our staff is Teaching Tolerance, which is filled with many articles on equity, justice, and diversity. Please feel free to check out the articles and resouces provided as we observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day tomorrow. At Harris Creek Elementary, we work hard to continue to support his vision and teach our students to love and respect one another, notice injustices, and disrupt them.
Sincerely,
Tracie Sanchez, Principal
