4-8-20 Parent Message
Good Evening Harris Creek Family,
I hope this message finds you well, safe, and having resources for your family. This is a long message so I appreciate you taking the time to read through all of this important information.
Chromebooks and Ipads:
We are in the process of distributing our Chromebooks to students that do not have devices available to them at home. Many parents have reached out requesting Chromebooks but we really need them to be available to homes that the students do not have access to any laptop or tablet. While I understand that an iPad isn't as convienent to work on, it still allows your child to access the content. We are prioritizing those on the "wait list" to ensure we get devices in the homes of all of our students. We just do not have enough devices to give out to every student. If you received a Chromebook from our school and do not need it any longer, please contact Mrs. Dolan at jmdolan@wcpss.net. You can return the device tomorrow morning between 10-12 in the bus loop. Those that have been contacted by your child's teacher can come tomorrow morning between 10-12 to the bus loop to check out a device.

Remote Learning Schedules:
Remote learning will start on Monday, April 13. We have created a school wide schedule for Remote Learning for our K-5 classes and for our ECS classes. Your child's teacher may slightly modify the schedule and send to you. We understand that not all students will be able to attend at the time listed and most lessons will not be live lessons. New instruction will be recorded and uploaded so students can access at the time that is available to them. Many of our teachers are taking care of their personal families at this time as well so they are given the freedom to adjust the schedule to meet their own family needs as well.

Food Resources:
There are two great sites to find lists of food resources across the county. Check these pages often as new sites or updates to existing sites are added frequently.
WCPSS food resources: https://bit.ly/3c6UDID
Wake County food resources site: https://bit.ly/2XkF7op
Meal Sites: You can find full lists of prepared meal sites (breakfast/lunch) for kids at the pages above. One easy way to get a list of the sites closest to you is to text FOODNC (for spanish text COMIDA) to 877-877. You’ll provide your address and then receive information on the closest meal sites. Anyone can pick up meals for children drive-through style and the child does not need to be present. Access a map of meal sites here: https://bit.ly/2ycC1IO

Thank you for working so closely with your children at this time. We realize you are taking on a lot at during this pandemic and that every home has varying needs. Your teachers have been working very hard preparing for virtual instruction while caring for their loved ones as well. We ask that you give us some grace during this time, as we will also give you grace. The most important thing is that you keep safe, have access to necessities, and take the opportunity to bond with your children. Mrs. Sanchez has asked the teachers to start slow next week. Some students will have more flexibility and availability than others. If you want more work for your child, you can ask your teacher for additional work ideas or encourage independent studies where children can learn about something new of their interest. Students will not be penalized for the work we are giving but we want to be sure they are the most prepared for the next school year as they can be. Please keep in touch with the teachers. They must make contact with every student at least once every week. Be sure to respond to their messages and keep them updated of phone number and email changes.
We miss you, we love, and we are here for you!
