3-25-20 Parent Message

Good Afternoon Harris Creek Family,

I do hope that all of you are staying safe and have enough food and supplies to make it through this tough time. Everything keeps changing by the day so I have refrained from sending information and allowed you to hear directly from WCPSS Leaders. I did want to share a few announcements with you.

1. Teachers are trying to get in contact with all students to check on two things: Device availability and Internet Connection. In order to move forward with new online instruction, we need to be sure that all students have access to the instruction. WCPSS is working day and night to come up with a plan to make this happen. If you haven't heard from your teacher, please reach out to him/her to let them know this information. Some teachers may not have the most updated contact information at home.

2. A bunch of Harris Creek staff will be doing a Caravan of Cheer this afternoon/evening. They will be driving the bus routes, honking, and waving to let you know they miss you and wish you well. They will begin with Route 1 at 3:00pm and will make their way through all 8 bus routes. They will be using the HCESBuses Twitter Account to let you know when they will be starting each route. This will take a couple hours to get through all of the routes. Feel free to step outside, keep your distance from your neighbors and wave hello! If you don't typically use the HCESBus Twitter Account, you can follow it on our school webpage by scrolling down towards the bottom on the right. https://www.wcpss.net/site/default.aspx?DomainID=2806

3. The PTA is still working on the yearbook and they are in need of more pictures to be sent in for consideration for the yearbook by 3/31. They are short on 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Please email the pictures to hcesyearbook1@gmail.com with the grade in the subject line. Yearbook orders will still be accepted online until 3/31/20 here: https://harriscreek.ptboard.com/formvw?store=1175&form=6

4. Please see the updated food sites that you can get food for your family if in need. The closest school locations are Rolesville Middle School and Forestville Elementary School. See the full list here: https://www.wcpss.net/domain/16591

5. Many teachers have reached out with suggested student work. Please remember that nothing is mandatory nor graded but to give your child some sense of normalcy and to practice previously learned skills. WCPSS is working on a plan to start virtual instruction but we are still working on many things to make this happen. Please refer to this website with ideas and resources that all WCPSS students can access. https://sites.google.com/wcpss.net/instructional-continuity-wcpss/home

6. The teachers at Harris Creek have started a website for you to also access to find activities for your children to do here: https://sites.google.com/view/harriscreekonlineactivities/home

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time as we swim through these unchartered waters. We won't get everything perfect but we are certainly trying our best during all of this unknown. Remember that we love all of you and will do whatever we can to help you out during this time.

Sincerly,

Tracie Sanchez, Principal
