Cougar Blast - Week of 5.3.21

Dear Cougar Family,

Spring is most definitely in the air at AMS! We have had some lovely weather recently, time is going by quickly and we are noticing that our students are getting a bit of Spring Fever. We all know this has been a long, complicated, and sometimes difficult school year. There are 5 weeks left to this school year and your children have done an amazing job of adapting to all that has happened. Everyone at AMS is proud of their efforts and we want to see them shine and finish strong.

Please partner with us in reminding them that school is still in session until June 10th.. The expectations that have been set from the beginning are still in full effect. We are not relaxing any of our safety protocols and procedures, nor any of the expectations about behavior or dress code. I know that with your support, our students will fly through these next few weeks with PRIDE!

Please take note of the following announcements for this week.

Virtual Academy Registration Window for 2021-2022

  • The registration window for the WCPSS Virtual Academy opened Thursday, April 22 at 12:01 a.m. and will close today, May 2 at 5 p.m.

 Thank A Teacher

  • This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week. While we always appreciate our teachers, this year is like none other. Our teachers have shown themselves to be nothing less than superheroes time and time again. Please take a moment to thank your child/s teachers for all that they do day in and day out. Even better, encourage your children to thank them personally - I guarantee that our teachers would love that personal touch.

 Save the Date

  • June 7, 2021 will be our 8th Grade Celebration. Details will be shared soon. Please note that families may be part of the celebration, but there will not be an in person ceremony.

Items to be returned

  • As we near the end of the year, teachers will be communicating with students about when to return which materials need to be returned to the school and when.
  • Please note that students who have  WCPSS devices will keep that device until next school year if they are remaining in WCPSS public school. This includes our current 8th grade students - they will keep the WCPSS device to use in high school. Current 5th grade students in WCPSS schools will bring their device with them in the fall when they come in as 6th graders.
  • Please note that if your family moves out of the District, you must return the WCPSS device when you withdraw from the school.
