DRMS' Principal Message
Greetings Dolphin Families,
6th & 7th Grade Dance: The 6th and 7th grade dance is this week! Get ready to GLOW UP and SHOW UP on Friday, March 21st from 3:30pm-5:00pm. The dance costs $5 to attend and this helps to pay for pizza and decorations. Students must stay after school in order to attend the dance. Students may pay in cash on Tuesday and Wednesday. The last day to pay is Wednesday, March 19th. See Ms. Pitts during arrival on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the top of the 7th grade hallway. Payment will not be accepted on any other days. Payment to the dance is non-refundable and students must be eligible to attend after school events in quarter 3. (No OSS assignments and no more than 2 days of ISS in quarter 3.) If students become ineligible after payment is made, there will be no refunds.
Dance Donations: Families, we are super excited about hosting our grade level dances! Your donations are needed to help make this an enjoyable experience for our students! Items needed include plates, napkins, mini water bottles and individually packaged snacks. Donations can be dropped off during morning or afternoon carpool or in the main office. Thanks in advance for your support.
Rock Your Socks Day on 3/21: World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), is celebrated annually on March 21st. The date (3/21) symbolizes the triplication of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. We want you to Rock Your Socks for Down Syndrome Awareness. Wearing bright, mismatched, or funky socks on March 21st is a fun and visible way to show support for individuals with Down syndrome. The idea behind "Rock Your Socks" is that chromosomes look like socks under a microscope, and the unique, colorful socks help spark conversations about inclusion, acceptance, and awareness.

Reality of Money: On March 18, we will have a Reality of Money event sponsored by State Employees Credit Union. We are still in need of additional volunteers. This event offers a financial simulation that provides students an opportunity to make financial decisions about paying for housing, transportation, and other monthly expenses as they are "transformed" into young adults with jobs and other responsibilities to manage. Students are exposed to various financial learning points such as the value of furthering their education, the importance of saving, the limiting effect of bad credit, and "living within their means". There are no requirements to volunteer. All volunteers will be provided with all of the training and materials needed. If you are willing to offer your time for one or both sessions, we would love to have you. Please review the session times and sign up here.
