DRMS' Principal Message

Greetings Dolphin Families,

Welcome Back! I hope your family had a great holiday season and restful track out. We are excited to begin our second semester and continue partnering with you to support your child’s growth and success. Consistent attendance is vital for academic achievement, and we appreciate your efforts to ensure your student is present and engaged each day. Please encourage your child to collaborate with teachers and staff, as we are here to guide and support them. Together, we can make this semester a rewarding and successful experience for every student. Thank you for your continued support!

Diane Kent-Parker Award: We are excited to congratulate Ms. Marion Porter on being selected as one of four finalists for the WCPSS Diane Kent Parker First Year Teacher Award at the middle school level! Her exceptional dedication and passion for teaching have truly made a difference in the lives of our students. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and look forward to her continued success. Well done, Ms. Porter!

Safe Driving on Campus: Please adhere to a safe speed when driving on camps to carpool drop off and pick up. Maintaining a safe speed ensures the safety of our students, staff, and visitors. Many of our students walk to and from school, using crosswalks that intersect the carpool drive to access the campus. Deputy Bullock will be patrolling and assisting with monitoring safe speeds. Thank you for your cooperation!

Biking to School: To ensure student safety in the bus loop area, students who ride their bikes to school will be asked to walk their bike to the back of the bus loop to safely leave campus.

News from the PTA: Due to unforeseen circumstances we need to elect a new PTA President. Thankfully we have found someone to fill this need! On January 28th at 6:30pm we will host a general meeting in the Media Center to elect Chryl Tritt.  Chryl has previously served as Board Advisory Rep for DRMS. If you are unable to attend in person, you can join virtually. Haven’t joined the PTA yet, it’s never too late. Join the PTA through GiveBacks

School Spelling Bee: This Wednesday at 1:00 PM, we will host our school wide Spelling Bee. Best of luck to our classroom winners. A special thank you to local celebrity Bryan Lord from the WRAL-FM Mix Morning Show for serving as our pronouncer.  Be on the lookout for the winning name later this week.
