DRMS' Principal Message

Greetings Dolphin Families,

As we approach the end of Quarter 1, it is important for students to remain focused and committed over the next two weeks. This is a great time to review progress, complete any missing assignments, and finish strong. Let's work together to ensure a successful close to the quarter!

Important Policies to Review: As we work together to maintain a positive and respectful learning environment, we kindly ask all families to review the following important policies:

These policies and additional policies can be found on our district website. Thank you for your support in helping us create a safe and productive school environment!

College Colors Day: This Friday, 09/20/24, is our next College Colors Day. Wear your favorite college gear and colors.

Child Abuse and Neglect Information: NC Legislators passed a law last year that requires all secondary schools across the state to inform students in grades 6-12 each year about important resources related to child abuse and neglect.  It also requires schools to have this information posted in each middle and high school.  This document is for your information that contains important information and resources available in our community.  WCPSS is committed to the safety and well being of children in our community.  If you have any questions about this information, please reach out to our school social worker, or grade level counselor.

Carpool & Walker Students: I want to remind all carpool families to use the designated carpool lanes for student drop-off and pick-up. Students should not be walking across the street to enter a vehicle at any business, particularly the Durant Road KinderCare. The owner has reached out to us with safety concerns for both our students and their families as this has grown into a frequent concern. While KinderCare is striving to be a positive neighbor, they are prepared to begin towing vehicles that are not part of their community. Our morning and afternoon carpool runs very smoothly and quickly. If you need assistance with a carpool number, please see someone in our front office. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all our students.

District 3 Board Advisory Council (BAC) Meeting: Monday, September 16th at Wildwood Forest Magnet Elementary School. David Neter and Trisha Posey from Wake County Public Schools and County Commissioner Don Mial speak to us about how the county budget process works. The meeting will begin promptly at 6 pm until 7 pm.  Dr. Wing Ng will provide a few board updates as well.

DRMS LeaderSIP Meeting: Wednesday, 9/18/24 at 3:45 PM in the Media Center.

Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2 or BIMAS-2:  The BIMAS screening window originally scheduled for Monday, September 16th - Monday, September 23rd, 2024 has been postponed by the district. We will notify you once a new screening window has been scheduled.
