DRMS' Principal Message
Greetings Dolphin Families,
Quarter 1 Interim date is Monday, August 26: On our scheduled Interim date, parents should view PowerSchool for their child’s current averages in each class. Parents may request a printed version of their child’s interim to be sent home. These requests must be emailed to the individual teacher by the scheduled quarter interim date. Be sure to look at the Q1 average as well as click on that average to see the specific assignments and grades for that class. To give parents time to access PowerSchool, no changes will be made to PowerSchool August 26-27. After then, teachers will continue to update and key in grades for the quarter. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the individual teacher. If there are any parents that still do not have Powerschool access, we strongly encourage you to set this up in order to be able to access your child’s grades and help support them through their academic progress.

7th Grade Immunizations Due: All immunization records are due this Friday, 08/30/24. If the school hasn't received by the 30th calendar day from the first day of a child's attendance a record of completed immunization or a physician’s note stating an immunization series is in progress, the principal is required by law to exclude the child from school on the 31st day until such evidence has been presented by the parent or guardian.
College Colors Day: On the Friday, 08/30/24, before Labor Day, National College Colors Day encourages everyone to display their team spirit. Across the United States students, parents, family, fans, and alumni will be wearing their team colors. Be sure you're celebrating by wearing your college team's colors and apparel. Be sure to tweet out your college colors using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay. We will continue to promote college awareness by celebrating College Colors Day on the last Friday of each month.

Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2 or BIMAS-2: We have been fortunate to be among the schools chosen to participate in the district’s Social, Emotional (SEL) Behavior Universal Screener. This is an excellent opportunity for our students and staff! To phase in the program, we will screen all students in grades 6th-8th in the coming weeks.
What is the SEL Behavior Universal Screener?
We’ll use the Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2 or BIMAS-2 (pronounced BYE-mahs). This research-based screening tool will help identify students who are at risk of future academic, behavioral, or emotional difficulties. Just like some students benefit from additional academic support and interventions, we know some students would benefit from additional support to strengthen their behavioral, social, and emotional skills. The data generated from this screener will also help us determine district and school-wide programs, interventions, and staff training needs.
