Greetings Durant Road Middle School Families,

I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Durant Road Middle School, and I can't wait to join this amazing school community! With ten years of experience as the principal of Powell Center for Play and Ingenuity Magnet Elementary School, I bring a passion for education and a love for creating a fun, engaging learning environment.

Originally from Pennsylvania, I moved to North Carolina to kick off my career in education. Over the past 20+ years, I've served in several different education capacities, including elementary teacher, assistant principal at both elementary and middle school levels, and elementary principal. My time as a middle school assistant principal gave me fantastic insights into the unique challenges and joys of working with middle schoolers. I’m excited to bring those experiences here to Durant Road.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our two children, ages 19 and 15, and our family dog. We enjoy traveling and trying new restaurants. I also enjoy watching college sports, grilling, making music, and staying current with best practices in education.

As a principal of a Title I and Restart School, I’ve learned how to meet the diverse needs of all students and create a welcoming, inclusive environment. I focus on using innovative strategies and resources to help every student thrive and reach their full potential.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from The Pennsylvania State University. I also earned a master’s degree in School Administration, a 6th Year Advanced Education Specialist degree, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from North Carolina State University. Go Pack! These academic experiences have equipped me with the latest educational strategies to lead our school effectively.

I am dedicated to teamwork, openness, and creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Together, I know we can continue to make Durant Road Middle School an awesome place for learning and academic excellence.
