DRMS' Principal Message

Happy Sunday, Dolphins!  This is Kristen Faircloth, proud principal at Durant Road Middle School, with your May 15, 2022 Family Message.

We hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and spending some time outside on this beautiful Sunday.  Congratulations to all the Carolina Hurricanes fans on the game 7 win!  We are 5 weeks away from the start of EOG testing with a lot of curriculum and review to cover.  Continue to remind your student the importance of staying focused, making positive choices, and finishing the 2021-22 school year strong.  It will be important to read and review all communication from specific grade levels regarding end of year celebrations and events.

Please take a moment to read through the Family Message below and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or needs.  We are here to serve you and your child.

End-of-Year State Testing:  At the end of the school year, your child will participate in the regular administration of North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) tests , Reading, Math and Science 8. Students enrolled in Math 1 will participate in an End of Course (EOC) test and students in Math 2 will participate in a teacher-made assessment. Testing will follow this schedule.  Students who score Level 3 or higher on these assessments are considered proficient.

If you have any questions about EOG or EOC testing, please contact our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net.

EOG Remediation/Readministration Opportunity: This year, Wake County has opted in to have students that pass an EOG course, but do not score a 3 or higher on the EOG to have an opportunity for remediation and readministration of the EOG. Please refer to previous information and/or reach out to our testing coordinator, Erin Dunbar edunbar@wcpss.net with questions.  Again, this is optional for only those students that qualify.

Polling Site: DRMS will serve as a polling site for primaries on Tuesday, May 17. People voting will enter and exit through the bus entrance and vote in the gym. Voters and students will not cross paths or interact.
