Happy Mother's Day Sunday, Dolphins!  This is Kristen Faircloth, proud principal at Durant Road Middle School with your May 8, 2022 Family Message.  

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers in the Durant Road Middle Community. Thank you all for your support and love of our students. We hope you are able to spend some time today relaxing and being celebrated.

Thank you to the wonderful DRMS PTA and the support of our community for celebrating our staff this past week during Staff Appreciation Week!  Our community provided our staff with treats, gifts, and kind words/gestures throughout the week. The DRMS staff enjoyed coffee and donuts, a stocked lounge, Brusters ice-cream, goodie bags with gift cards, and ended the week with a Papa Murphy's pizza for every staff member!  Thank you for showing your appreciation and helping make Durant Road Middle School an outstanding place to spend our days.  

The weeks continue to move by quickly.  We are down to our final 6 weeks before testing and 8 weeks until the end of the 2021-22 school year.  As this year winds down, please continue to remind your students to focus on ending the year strong.  It is also important to be on the lookout for additional end-of-year information directly from your child's respective grade level.  

Please take a moment to read through the Family Message below and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or needs you may have.  

End-of-Year State Testing:  At the end of the school year, your child will participate in the regular administration of North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) tests , Reading, Math and Science 8. Students enrolled in Math 1 will participate in an End of Course (EOC) test and students in Math 2 will participate in a teacher-made assessment. Testing will follow this schedule.  Students who score Level 3 or higher on these assessments are considered proficient.

Show Your Durant Road Chorus Pride!:  The DRMS Chorus Boosters.Club is selling t-shirts and sweatshirts to not only make your kids look awesome, but also to raise money for sheet music, chorus room equipment, concert attire, future field trips, and more. If you have a child in chorus this year or next (be proactive!), order their attire today so they can show their DRMS chorus pride. T-shirts are $15 each; sweatshirts are $30 each. Don't know if your child wants a shirt? Ask them! But don't delay. Orders are due by May 27th. Apparel will be delivered within two weeks. Thank you for your support of the DRMS Chorus Program!
