DRMS Principal's Message

Hello, this is Kristen Faircloth, principal at Durant Road Middle School, with your August 3, 2019 message.

We have had an amazing first week of school!  The staff has been doing a wonderful job ensuring the expectations and procedures are clear and the students are off to a great start.

It is that exciting time of year that athletics starts gearing up.  Select students have been chosen by the coaches and have been notified regarding skills practice.  Per WCPSS rules, only 5 volleyball players, 21 football players, and 10 soccer players attend a skills session at a time.  Coaches have created schedules and have invited students who are academically eligible and have a current physical on file.  This weeks schedule is below:

Monday, August 5: Volleyball skills 3:00 PM - 5:15 PM in the gym (selected students)

Tuesday, August 6:  Football skills 3:00 PM - 5:15 PM in the gym (selected students)

Wednesday, August 7:  Girls soccer skills 3:00 PM - 5:15 PM in the gym (selected students)

Thursday, August 8:  Football skills 3:00 PM - 5:15 PM i the gym (selected students)

DRMS Athletics is accepting student Pod Squad memberships!  Order yours now until August 30, 2019.  $25 gets students a t-shirt and free admission to all home Durant Road Middle School games this school year!

Fall Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, 2019 for all students.  Picture day envelopes were sent home the first week of school.  This is the picture that will go in the yearbook, so dress to impress!

The PTA is looking forward to another great year at DRMS!  PTA information packets and membership forms were sent home this week.  There are several open committee positions and volunteer opportunities available, and they would appreciate your help!  Please consider joining the PTA and offering your ideas and talents to help strengthen our school community.

Be sure to check out your child's backpack for GoPlaySave information and coupon books.  This is our first major fundraising effort, and offers more than $12,000 in savings at local businesses while helping to raise money for our school.  Purchase options include a book, a mobile app or a discounted book/app bundle - and students can win great prizes for any sales they make.  If you have any questions please email

Thank you for supporting DRMS,

Kristen Faircloth
