DRMS Principal's Message
Hello, this is Kristen Faircloth, principal at Durant Road Middle School, with your DRMS message.
It is hard to believe that Monday is April 1, 2019 and we are moving into the 4th quarter of the 2018-2019 school year. We are encouraging all of our learners to reflect on the past 3 quarters, make goals for the 4th quarter and finish the year strong. Learners on Tracks 1, 2 & 3 will complete the 4th Quarter Reflection Agenda Page on Monday, April 1, 2019. Please take a minute to ask your child about their goals and review their agenda.
Please join us for our Tracks 1 & 2 Student Led Conferences on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Student Led Conferences are an opportunity for your child to share their learning, progress and goals for the year. Parents and guardians should sign up for a 40 minute time slot with their child's core teachers. Elective teachers will be in the media center where students and parents can visit before or after their core subjects conferences. Two food trucks will be in the carpool loop and families can eat dinner at the picnic tables or in the cafeteria. Finally, the DRMS PTA will be selling spirit wear. We are looking forward to seeing all of our Track 1 & 2 Dolphin Families on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 for Student Led Conferences!
WCPSS is conducting the Panorama Family Survey again this school year. One of the pillars within Vision 2020 is "Community Engagement," which centers around Parent Engagement. In support of this, WCPSS will continue its successful Family Survey effort and aim to gather actionable data from all parents and guardians in the district. Using this data, WCPSS school and district leaders will be able to both assess where they stand relative to their goals in Vision 2020 and better understand how they can align their resources to improve identified areas for growth. The survey asks families about a variety of topics relevant to their experiences with their schools and district (barriers to engagement, family support, family efficacy, family engagement, school climate). All surveys will be administered from Monday, March 25 - Friday, May 3. Parents/guardians with an email address on file with the district will be emailed a survey from Panorama. Parents and guardians will be asked to complete one survey per school that they have a child attending. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey to help our school grow.
DRMS' second annual Splash Dash Color Run is just around the corner! This is an important day of fun and generosity for our school community. Students will participate in a run on the school campus and can choose to have safe, colorful powder thrown on them at various color stations. Tracks 1 & 2 Splash Dash is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2019 and Tracks 3 & 4 Splash Dash is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2019. We have already raised over $4200! Please help us reach our $20,000 goal in order to receive much needed technology in our classrooms.
Thank you for supporting the DRMS Dolphins,
Kristen
