Principal's Message June 19, 2020
Hello Falcon Families,
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer break! Just a few updates to share with you and each week, I will keep you updated on new ideas and proposals coming out. At this time, the district is using the state's, "Lighting our way forward" guidelines to design three plans for reopening. Plan A = all back in school with minimal social distancing, Plan B = 50% back in school at a time with moderate social distancing and Plan C = all remote learning. The school district is looking at options, along with seeking your feedback, but ultimately it will come down to what Govenor Cooper says by July 1, then our WCPSS will share the details of the plan based on his decision. I hope that makes sense. Again, as I get more information, I will pass along to you.
Being prepared for this school year is going to be more important than ever! You only have 3 weeks left to purchase your supply kit. As states start to reopen and schools start to plan their 1st day, our school and parents will want to have all of the supplies they need to be ready on the 1st day. You will love the option to click and buy everything online in a custom kit tailored for our school and teachers! No one wants to go to the crowded stores this summer or worry about hunting down hard to find products! Buy your kit today by clicking on the link below!! Be prepared no matter what and get yours today! Kits are for the 2020-21 school year and available to order through July 1 for HOME DELIVERY before August 1! Newly Elected PTA Officers for 2020-2021:
At our general meeting on June 9th, we elected our new officers for 2020-21. We are pleased to announce the following:
- Jamie Schnegelberger - President
- Stacy Holbrook - VP Fundraising
- Keri Saul - VP Communications and Student Enrichment
- Brittany Lloyd - Treasurer
- Terri Stites - Secretary
Thank you to our officer team from last year and we are looking forward to the new school year!
Procurement of cleaning supplies, health items or PPE equipment for reopening:
The district is ordering and securing cleaning supplies, health items, and PPE for all schools. State guidance is very specific about which cleaning products, hand sanitizers, thermometers, etc. may be used. As a result, we will NOT be able to accept donations from the PTA, other community organizations, or families for these items, including for individual classroom use. Products must be federally approved for use against COVID-19. The district plans to have a hand sanitizing station and cleaning supplies readily available in every classroom, so classes shouldn’t need bottles of sanitizer and cleaning products/wipes like they have used in the past. The PTA has updated the supply kits above to remove those items from the list. We understand the class lists sent out had those items requested, but at this time, we are told to not collect those. Thank you!
I know many of you have asked about class assignment (who your child's teacher will be) for next year. As much as we wanted to be able to share that information with you this week, based on decisions yet to be made from the state and district, we are going to hold off at this time. We would hate to send something out and then things change. I appreciate your patience and understanding, in advance. We hope to have that out early July once we hear more on the direction from our Govenor and district.
